We’ve shown you the RM038 before here and here, but now that Bubba is a Masters winner, we thought it was time to remind you just what it is he wears on his wrist and show you the actual watch he wears on the course, complete with grass and sweat stains.

A question that journalists love to ask watch execs is “what watch would you wear if you weren’t in your position?” Most of the time, they laugh it off so as to not offend the powers that be, or give praise to a competitor. Ask an independent watchmaker the same question, and you’ll get a real answer.
In fact, one of the leading independents, Mr. Max Büsser of MB&F, went beyond answering that question, he’s showing us exactly what we would, and is wearing. Max is the proud owner of a brand new watch, a watch not from MB&F, but rather from his long-time friend and some-time collaborater Peter Speake-Marin. The watch Mr. Busser is wearing is the Speake-Marin Spirit Pioneer, a watch we showed you first here.
We have to say, it’s great to see friends and colleagues buying each others pieces, and this is the type of industry that gives us hope for the future of watchmaking. Here is a better look at the watch on Mr. Busser’s wrist:

He even had a limited edition watch created in his honor, and donated his personal AudemarsPiguetLas Vegas Tourbillon to charity, which ended up selling for $ 220,000 to this man. Then, over the summer we saw Jay wearing one of the coolest watches on this green earth, the incredible Richard Mille RM027 while sitting courtside at the US Open. After that, we spotted a Rolex GMT gifted to an engineer on his Watch The Throne album with Kanye West. Uncle Kanye is starting a fashion line, but it won’t be called DW By Kanye. We don’t know what it’ll be called, but we do know that no matter what Mr. West will name his line, or whatever he happens to be wearing, odds are, he’ll have something nice on his wrist.
In the Otis video, Kanye was wearing a yellow gold Rolex, and in this pic above, we’ve spotten him wearing something even nicer. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar with skeletonized dial and movement in yellow gold is one very serious timepiece – serious to the tune of $ 136,500. This is probably the nicest watch we’ve seen on Chicago’s favorite son, and this watch in this execution is a favorite among serious collectors for the incredible ultra-thin perpetual movement, the open-worked dial, and the wearability of the great Royal Oak case.

I own a large and enviable collection of luxury watches. I never wear them as I feel like people who wear this kind of accessories are just trying to impress people in a materialistic way. My parents are not flashy at all, they are the most humble people I have ever known but when it comes to me they give me a lot of gifts I feel uncomfortable about. I have talked to them about this but they think that I’m exaggerating. I’m an artsy 20 year old who listens to jazz, classical, experimental electronica and Radiohead. I brought some of the cheapest with me to college but I still do feel uncomfortable about them.
-I’m not a hipster Stephanie. I’m more of a J Crew type of person. I like to keep it simple, and I also like the good kid kind of look even if I’m not as good as I look.
-They did not buy it for themselves. This is the weirdest part, cause I know that they would feel embarrassed of wearing something like this.
