I'm looking for watches that are durable for my dad who spends a lot of his time outdoors. He works at a site where there's a lot of sand, sun and dust.

The price doesn't matter, but preferably not branded like Rolex or something cos I don't think he'd be too overjoyed if a tractor ran over it.

Get him a mtm watch, the ones used by US SEALS and Spec Ops. Starting at around $500US (pretty good value with strong aussie dollar). Obviously tough and durable but I'm sure no one else would have it and let's face it, it's pretty cool having a watch designed for combat forces. Some have ballistic wrist bands, just in case you get shot in the wrist . Some have different light modes, recharges using electromagnetic induction charger, and well they look good
