Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of visiting Omega’s renovated museum space across the street from the brand’s headquarters in Biel, Switzerland. Omega has a history that stretches back to 1848 and the museum tells the story of one generation to the next with great pride and impeccable curation. With a brand that conjures images of James Bond, Astronauts and the Olympics, it’s easy to overlook its modest founder and historic manufacturing abilities. The museum handles the task well though, devoting space and attention to each chapter in the company’s evolution.  In the museum you will see some of the most important Omegas ever made – the watches that made it into outerspace, those that were part of the Alaska project, those that were issued by the British military, and even a few from COMEX.

The fun doesn’t end there, so if you want to see some really special Omegas, read on.

One of those guys in yellow could be you! When they haven’t been busy building fancy sidereal astronomical tourbillions IWC has been boning up on its nautical cred, sponsoring yacht races and trips around the world on boats made of plastic water bottles.  We suspect this might have something to do with them wanting to sell lots and lots of their new and shiny Yacht Club Chronograph.

While we’re on the topic of the yacht club chrono – we thought it was our civic duty to let you all know that IWC is giving a few of them away. They’re also giving away a bunch of other nautical themed ‘experiences’ – you know, tickets to yacht races in glamorous locations, trips on yachts – that kind of thing.

It’s dead simple to answer, they only ask you one tricky question that we assume every self respecting HODINKEE reader will already know the answer to, and the first prize is drawn at the end of September.

Head on over to IWC to enter.

Question by cool girl

You know when you order a supreme chalupa at taco bell and ask for beans instead of beef? Do you know how they make those beans? How do they make them and what do they use?

Best answer:

Answer by Frances
They are refried beans, they are kind of a pain to make, so I usually buy them premade in a can. Go to your local grocery store to the mexican food isle, and you should have several options. I live in a small town in Minnesota and there are at least three differant brands were I shop they cost about $ 1 per can.

if you want to make some from scrathc here is a recipe I have used that is good, I found it on cooks.com

1 pound bag pinto beans
1/4 medium onion, sliced
1 jalapeno, sliced
8 chile arbol dried peppers
4 t. salt
1 t. garlic powder
1/4 cup cooking oil

Sart with a 1 lb bag of pinto beans washed and picked for rocks, etc. Rinse the beans under cold water. After rinsing, add beans to a large kettle of cold water.
Add 1/4 of a medium onion in slices. Add 1 jalapeno pepper cut into slices. Add 4 tablespoons salt and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.

Cook, covered on low until beans are ready, adding water as needed to ensure that they do not boil dry.

Once beans are ready, heat a large frying pan with 1/4 cup cooking oil. When oil is hot, reduce the heat to low and add the chile arbol peppers, frying them in the oil until the oil tints a light red color.

Once oil is tinted red, remove the chile arbol. Scoop out the beans from the other kettle by the cup full and slowly add into the hot oil making sure to drain as much water from the beans as possible to prevent the oil from splattering.

Once all the beans are added, then you simply fry them for approximately 3 to 4 minutes until you are able to mash them easily. Use a potato masher to mash the beans. As you mash them, you will add water from the bean kettle to the fying beans until you have a refried bean consistency (like in the restaurants).

After you achieve this, you can add salt to taste as desired. Be certain not to add too much salt, as the salt will take some time to dissolve completely into the beans; so remember less is more in this case.

This recipe has an excellent flavor and IS ***NOT**** hot or spicy at all.

Question by Dallas

Ok so yesterday my girlfriend and I had a serious falling out. We’ve had a lot of fights so we decided it was over. A couple hours ago I showed up at her house to get my stuff so I could move and a lot of stuff was gone. I’m talking a PS3, 42″ HDTV, a leather coat, and a Rolex my grandfather owned. Some smaller stuff too. She says she pawned it because I “owe” her for some stuff, which I don’t. Anyway I don’t know if I should call the police or what? A friend of her’s confirmed that she sold it and told me what pawn shop it’s at. The pawn shop says I can’t have the crap back without her in tow. I want it all back, immediately.

Best answer:

Answer by Kyle
Call the police and (if you want to) say she stole from you (which she did).

rolex website Question&Answer:
Question by J.: Anyone bought stuff off this website?
www.ebuy4cheaps.com or www.helloreplica.com before? Are they any good? I have searched google and can’t find anything bad about them (like, that they steal your bank account or your purchase never shows up etc) They are supposedly endorsed by yahoo shopping or something?

I don’t care that they are replicas – berate me if you want to feel superior, I don’t care :)

If not, where can I get a decent quality replica of a rolex daytona? no way I’ll ever afford $ $ ,$ $ $ for a watch, but I love the look of it!

Thanks :)
