Well to put it simply I sold a stolen watch on ebay without knowing it was stolen. I received a phone call from a detective who is looking for the watch and who got my information from the bum that sold it to me after he was arrested. The detective just wanted to find the rolex and return it to the owner so i gave him the information of the ebay buyer so he could go retrieve it. There are not going to be any charges pressed against me but I just want some opinions on what will happen next. Probably contact from paypal or whatever, but will I have to give the seller back his money at all?

Answer by Roddy The seller will ask PayPal for their money back. PayPal will give it to them. Might as well hand it over. I imagine a Rolex brought you quite a bit of money and it’s probably enough to sue you over. You can lose at PayPal or you can lose in court.
It’s even possible the buyer will contact his police department and demand to press charges since you sold a stolen item even if your local police department doesn’t. Best to just get it over with and avoid a lot of problems.

Watches have been involved in many incredible moments in history over the last century, from sports victories and high-profile gifts to groundbreaking changes in our political landscape. For Lt. Charles Woehrle, his watch-moment came as a POW in World War II, as a prisoner in the Stalag Luft III, of The Great Escape fame.
While a prisoner, Woehrle came across a brochure for Patek Philippe and ordered a watch to be delivered to him at the POW camp, promising to pay for it once he was released. In what boggles the mind in today’s world of modern warfare, several months later the steel Patek was delivered to Woehrle at the POW camp and included a letter from Patek saying “We wish that this watch will give you full satisfaction.” In what must have been a dreary and stressful environment, this Patek offered a glimmer of happiness to Woehrle and his fellow prisoners.
Forty years later however, in a cruel twist of fate, Woehrle’s home was robbed and his beloved Patek was stolen. But the story didn’t end there. In 2009, Woehrle’s niece, Louise, was shooting a documentary about her uncle and the subject of the watch was brought up. After hearing the story, Louise contacted Patek Philippe and they ended up supplying Woehrle with a new watch, similar to the one he received 60 years ago, this time fashioned out of gold which was very deserving of a WWII veteran and POW.

Answer by MKchi If you accounts and other information keeps getting hijacked it means there is some spyware or virus on your computer that just records EVERYTHING you do, so when you log into something like yahoo, you are giving away your username and password. You need a real, legitanite, Anti-Virus/Spyware program to clean out your system and help protect you in the future. You will no doubt be flooded with people recommending “Free” protection programs and you need to remember, when it comes to security, you get what you pay for and when you pay nothing, you get nothing. The best security program available is Norton 360. It is Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, has active Fraud Monitoring, offers Back-up and Restore Protection, as well as Windows and Hard Drive clean up and Optimization. Another good program is WebRoot SpySweeper which you can get as just Anti-Spyware or get it with Anti-Virus too. I use both Norton 360 and WebRoot Spysweeper for a double layer of protection and I have never been infected by anything. Just remember, when running these programs to remove a threat, you need to disable Windows System Restore to prevent the virus replicating it’s self in the System Restore folder. Answer by Mother knows best! My watch was lost and no one returned it even tough I went to ask for it at the place where I lost it . If the watch was stolen you might stand a better chance to go and visit the Pawn shops in your area and look for the serial number yourself , if you post anything on line never include any info about anything , look on the ads on the paper even , unless you offer a reward if you lucky you might get it back otherwise you have lost your watch as well !

Question by YA: Are Stolen Designer Handbags (Bottega Veneta) Detectable By Their Serial Numbers?
Long story short basically my friend’s Bottega Veneta handbag was stolen. She has reported it to the police.
I guess I am wondering with designer watches like Rolex, Cartier etc, which have unique serial numbers, so no two Cartier watches even of the same model should have the same serial numbers. So when designer watches are stolen the owner just have to give the serial numbers at the back of the watch to the police and report it the respective watch company. In the even that someone sells a stolen watch to a 2nd hand watch dealer, he/she will be caught as second hand watch dealers have to take down the name and contact number of the person.
My question is, does the same theory apply to designer handbags especially Bottega Veneta. When my friend reported her theft, the police did not ask her for the serial numbers and she could not remember it of course. So I suggested she look for the receipt (to see if the bag’s serial number is indicated) and ask the police officer in question where this information would help.
Do all designer handbags have a unique serial number, so no two designer handbags even of the same model/design should have the same serial numbers.

Answer by luvfurypassionenergybabe It depends on the brand. Louis Vuitton is not unique it just tells when the bag was made. I think Chanel is unique though. Sorry I’m not much help. I don’t own a Bottega Veneta bag.

EDIT: Coach serial numbers are NOT unique. The same bag in the same style will have the same number. The first part is the season it came out ie Fall 2008 and the second part is the style number.
