Imagine a cushion shaped mono-pusher chronograph wristwatch from a storied brand like Vacheron Constantin, that dates to 1930. A watch such as this is surely a valuable one and the type of thing an auction house like Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Antiquorum, or Bonhams would love to have. In fact, the Vacheron you see above, the reference 2990 mono-pusher from 1930 is in fact a watch that was sold by Christie’s in May of last year (2011) for over $ 56,000. In other instances, examples for the 2990 mono-pusher from VC has broken $ 100,000.
But, if you happen to be cruisin the ‘Bay (that’s “browsing watches on eBay” for those who don’t speak watchnerd), and enter “vintage Vacheron,” you will come across a watch that looks very much like this one. Actually, the seller claims it is this one – a Vacheron Constantin reference 2990 mono-pusher chronographer in a solid gold cushion style case from 1930. And, it’s only at $ 2,175! What a bargain!
Except it’s a total fake.

Helmut Sinn, the founder of the eponymously-named watch company famous for its robust aviation-inspired tool watches, is selling off some of his own collection. Herr Sinn, a former pilot and flight instructor, founded his watch company in the late 1950s and the brand quickly became known for its overengineered timepieces that are highly functional in all conditions. Helmut Sinn sold the company to Lothar Schmidt in 1994 and went on to pursue other ventures with brands such as Chronosport and Guinard.

Question by bigd
I purchased a Tag Automatic Calibre 5 Link watch back in May of this year. It was my first automatic. I now realize that I actually don’t wear it often enough or even when I do I guess I do not move enough to have it keep a good reserve. I often find myself having to reset and wind it. Especially after weekends. I know that a watch winder would help but I was also thinking of perhaps just selling the watch and cutting my losses. I do really like the watch but never thought that owning an automatic would be such a pain. How much could I expect to lose on the resell? I purchased it for about $ 2900 with taxes in Canada at a reputable dealer. Any advice appreciated.
Answer by Beth
You’d be lucky to get half what you paid. Sorry.
Set up some ads online and set the price higher than you’d expect to make off of it, people generally will offer less than what you are looking for.
Sorry ’bout that.

I have had an interest in Real Estate for some time now and am finally going to start pursuing it as a career. I watched these real estate shows where the agents are selling high end property and wondered to myself how did they transition from regular residential homes to high end property and commercial units?
Answer by Landlord
You can start high end right away, the agent finds their own clients, you pick your own market. You will be most successful if you pick the same market you are, people are more comfortable within their own class.
If you want to sell commercial you would need to go to a commercial broker. Since the laws vary so much very very few brokers do both.

Question by Steven
I ask this as a friend recently bought a cartier watch on ioffer.com, the seller stated it as authentic, he said the photos looked good, there was even a copy of the receipt shown.
Anyway when he receive the watch, it was obvious it was a fake.
So if my friend reports this to the police, realistically can anything be done? Especially since sometimes these are people desperate for quick money and only sell 1-3 fake designer items. They are not really those companies or websites selling fake designer items on a long term basis.
1) First the ioffer seller is not responding anymore, most likely he/she registered with a fake name, address, contact number.
2) I am not sure if they can track the person, through the ip address?
3) Lastly what if the person is outside of the US?
did not get much answers yesterday, so asking again
February can I ask are you in law enforcement.
thanks
Answer by February1

Question by Profit
Just wanted to know if it is a good product to sell for profits.
Answer by diet_coke_ca
“Replica” is a fancy way of saying “counterfeit”. Counterfeits are illegal. You would be committing a crime.
If you’re intent on making money through criminal activity, might I suggest dealing drugs in the street? Much more profitable.

You’re unlikely to find any. As the seat of government, including the agencies that uphold the laws against such goods, there is strict enforcement against such sales in Washington.

Question by Nik at Nite
I remember being a little girl, back in the 90s, and Taco Bell was selling a cassette tapes that had a bunch of different songs on it. I’m searching for a specific song and can’t remember for the life of me what the song was called or how the song really even goes. It’s just been so long. If anybody has this cassette or knows where I can locate one, please help! Thanks!
Answer by Mike
Try amazon or ebay.
