We’ve always said a Rolex is as good as cash in your hand, and now we’re about to find out just how much cash.  A man in Granada Hills, CA has listed his entire vintage and modern Rolex collection – 19 watches in total – on eBay in hopes of sending his son to school at UCLA.  What is most surprising though, is that he’s decided to sell all 19 watches in one auction.

This is an odd choice because some of the watches are really quite special, such as an early Turn-O-Graph with original bracelet, a nice Red Submariner, and nice 1675 GMT, while others are pretty ordinary.  Also, modern Rolex buyers tend to be a wholly different set of people from vintage Rolex buyers.  So, who out there needs 19 Rolex watches, some of which are fantastic early models, some of which are mundane modern pieces?

As of right now, the auction, which started at $ 100, has 14 bids and has reached $ 70,200.  There are, however, over nine days left in this sale.   Any guesses on what 19 Rollies of varying quality and importance will pull down?

Question by Johnnie R

Where can I find quality customers intrested in purchasing rolex watches?

Answer by Karl
You don’t give a lot of information here but you could try doing a blog, a squidoo lens, or join a social networking site to advertise your product. Here’s one which is totally free.

My friend joined this one and she’s getting lots of traffic.

Question by Haley Kent

Is bringing a fake rolex on an international flight from Venice to New York something which is likely to be a prosecutable offense? I purchased a really crappy fake rolex in croatia, and am flying in three days, The watch is an absolute joke, and is something that by any reasonable consideration is not a passable imitation (think a masareti triton duct taped to the hood of a ford pinto). Would transporting a single article of this nature be safe? or am I likely to end up in an European prison or fined tens of thousands of dollars? I’ve looked everywhere I could online, and haven’t been able to find any straight answer to my question. To be honest, if it’s likely to be a problem, I have no issue with leaving this 20 USD value knock-off behind before it could cost me big time.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Question by thedevice: do they make counterfeit vintage rolexes from the 1950′s?
i have a reallllly old rolex( oyster, not oysterdate) everything seems right, including proper sweep, internal & external markings etc… except, it is not completely water tight, and it says precisioc instead of precision. the weird thing is this isn’t a real sought after watch, and the wear and tear dates it to the 50′s so was anyone even making fakes back then?. so if you have any info hit me up, thanks

Answer by Vintage NYC
If your watch is a counterfeit, it would have been manufactured quite recently because I am pretty sure there were no counterfeits in the 50s.

If you are sure the watch in your possession is a 1950s model, then it is very likely to be a genuine Rolex. However, the inscription “precisioc” sounds rather fishy – I agree with you. Could your watch not be a more recent fake (from the 80s, say) which would have sustained a lot of usage thus showing wear and tear?

If I were you, I’d take it to a Rolex dealer’s or give one a call – he might be able to explain the “precisioc”.

Hope this helps, at least a little bit!

I was unable to find a 1949 Rolex Mickey Mouse watch for comparison, but I did find a 1947 Mickey Mouse watch for sale for $475. Be careful if you are buying because both Disney watches and Rolex watches are commonly faked.

ok i went to jewelers today and saw the new rolex subminer 2tone "blue dial with center links in gold" they also had the daytona stainless steel with black dial. i like both but i can only buy one. they are both about the same price 10,500.$ so which do you think is the better watch to buy or which would you buy?

Answer

$10,500? Your wallet is sure bigger than that pea-sized brain of yours.

Answer

Personally? I'd go with the Daytona stainless steel. The other one sounds a little gaudy.

Answer

I would get myself the casio calculator watch, about $5.00.

That way I wouldn't feel so dumb about wasting my money on something that tells me the time.

Then, take the remainder to a casino and put the whack on black. Way more fun, might make you an interesting person.

Answer

None! Rolex are not all their made out to be. Trust me I've own two. My Favourite watch now, and has been for a wail is a DKNY. their just as stylish and far more sophisticated
Sorry I hope I haven't upset you, I'm just trying to help
