Why is it wrong for me to want nice things in life, like a nice house in the suburbs, a decent car, the ability to go on nice vacations and nice clothes, but it's right for my employers or business owners to obtain these things. Most business owner come across as selfish(which is a sin), by the way they pay their workers. Then they have the nerve to act as if $7.15 hr or $8-11 is a ton of money and that you should be able to pay rent/mortgage, ultilities, cable, food, car note, car insurance, kids schooling, etc on that little bit of change. Oh I forgot, they can pay for those BMW's, Bentley's, Acuras, Mercedes Benz, private schools, 1st class seating on airlines, suburban homes, Rolex watches, mini skirt wearing, stiletto, thong and silicone boob woman(40 DD) at the same wages and feel we should be able to. Yet they send jobs overseas to pay workers, $.50 to $ 3.00 hr and act as if American are wrong for not wanting to work for slave wages. I forgot to mention that I am presently working as a customer service rep $13.85 hr and taking on line classes so I can achieve a Bachelors degree in Medical Billing and Coding. God forbid if instead of driving a 08 Benz that they should take an 06 Buick Lucerne or 08 Honda Accord for the benefit of making sure their employees and their kids live and eat well also, but I have to remind myself, they could care less anyway. At least be honest, but most of these guys are'nt man enough to do so. I guess you can say, that's capitalism at it's best. Peace Out

Answer

There has been a marked change in the split between the rich and everybody else over the last 30 to 40 years. In North America, wealth and incomes have become much more concentrated in the top 10 to 20 percent of the population. The lowest paid worker in a company used to be paid much more in relation to the wages of the boss of the company than today.

As one answerer already stated, there is a trade off with higher wages… it usually costs jobs. But I think greater unionization of workers has to occur, and ultimately will occur when the average blue collar or office/service worker has had enough. The pendulum has swung far too much towards slave labour wages and needs to come back a ways.

As to your situation, keep applying yourself, educating yourself and looking for other opportunities. Wages do tend to increase with age and experience.

And while I understand and hope you achieve your dreams of a house in the burbs, a car etc, don't let the world brain wash you into thinking that that is an end in itself. Most people in the rat race chasing after more material things (like those bosses you describe) aren't very happy people. After you attain a modest amount of income and wealth, more doesn't make you any more content (according to many studies).

Peace and best of luck

Welcome to Atheistic Capitalism!!!

Answer

People are in business to make money. Do you fault them? They are not in business to pay your bills. You work for them to pay thiers.

Now sure, it would be nice if every employer paid really well, but sometimes it just isn't possible, or the job doesn't warrent it.

If we paid every person at Mcdonalds 10 dollars an hour, the cost of a big mac would be a lot higher.

It sounds like you have the right idea, you are going to school so you can get a better job. There are levels of pay, for the level of education and experience that you have. A job like yours, probably doesn't have some outstanding skill set that is needed (no offense) and that is why the wage is where it is.

Answer

That's the way the system works. The exact opposite of this would be socialism, and some countries flirt with this concept to an extent. Telle que France. In those countries there are varying degrees of socialism where a person the owner, and the government are more accountable to the citizens and workers. The downside is that things are less efficient, there is more unemployment, and wages are still on average lower.
In all capitalist societies, (in theory) you have the option of starting your own business and becoming one of those owners. good luck

If there were 2 stores next to each other selling apples. The first store charges $1 per apple, and the 2nd store charged $2 per apple, which one would you go to?

If you needed to hire a babysitter, and find 2 equally qualified sitters. The first one wants $3 / hr, while the 2nd one wants $5 / hr, which one would you hire?

Your boss hires under the same principals of supply and demand. He pays what he has to pay to get a qualified employee, and no more.

If you suddenly fell off the face of the earth, and your boss advertised "Help Wanted— $13.85 /hr" How long would it take for him to find someone?

When you were hired, did you know what the salary was? Did you agree? It is none of your business what your boss makes.

Answer

It's called Capitalism…if you want everyone to be able to have everything equally, move to Cuba or Venezuela……..

Answer

Try owning a business and then telling everyone that they should pay $20 for unskilled labor. The $7 an hour jobs are for teenagers and retirees. Those jobs were not meant for people trying to raise a family.
You sound terribly jealous. You say you want nice things and then ***** when others have them.
Continue to get an education. That is how you make more money.

Answer

You only get paid for what your jobs worth. They don't care about us!

I have a watch and the chrome/polished steel part of the clasp is really scuffed and scratched. Is there anything i could use (household products preffered) to remove these scratches?

like this

http://www.clockmaker.com.au/rolex/polish_rolex_2.jpg

Answer

You're going to want to take it to a watchmake to have them buff out the scratches. Unless you have the right tools, watch dremel, buffer, etc… Don't try it yourself unless it's on a watch you don't care about and want to just practice on.

Here's a link to a 20% off watch service coupon to Precision Time. They've buffed a watch for me before. http://precisiontimeco.com/coupons/

Cost me about $20 with the coupon. Here's a link to their store locations. http://precisiontimeco.com/Locations/

Good luck!

I want to buy a New 2009 or 2010 Rolex but the Rolex site doesnt have MSRP.

Are there any websites that have accurate prices for real watches? I am very busy and I dont want to go to store until I am actually ready to make a purchase

Answer

Checkout one the dedicated Rolex forms on the internet. They typically have a price list for the MSRP for most countries and markets. Keep in mind Rolex rarely discounts anything more than 10% and that's if you're lucky. If you want a popular model, say a stainless steel Rolex Daytona Cosmograph, expect to pay full retail if you can find one. Going to the dealer is the best way to find what you want, try on different models and see all of the dial combination available. The Rolex website doesn't list every model they have for sale. I know this is strange but they almost force you to go to the dealer. Rolex also doesn't make a catalog for the public. The dealer will have a very thick, spiral bound book that he or she will gladly show you. Sadly you can't take this book home and almost no online scans are available. Rolex tends to squash that sort of thing very quickly.

Just pop into your local dealer and take a half hour and familiarize yourself with their lines. It's really the best way
