we won tickets-airline,accomadations ,and race ticket plus meals up in those closed in boxes. Is it worth the trouble? I have never watched a car race

Answer

Awesome.. Just awesome..

Answer

I'll take the tics if you don't want them. I live in Daytona. The rolex 24 is a world class race. The only 24 hour race in north America. You have drivers from nascar, F1, indy car, and different forms of motor sports competing on the same race track. During the race there's so much stuff to do. They have fair rides, place to buy merchandise, wine testing and so much more.

Answer

You'd be a fool to turn it down. Even if your not a big sports car racing fan it would still be something to experience once in a lifetime. I'd read up a bit on it before you go so your not lost as to what's going on when you get there and who's driving which car. Here's their web site.

I'm seriously thinking about jumping in my truck next Tuesday night and heading there myself.

Have fun you lucky bast*** LOL just kiddin Have Fun.

Once you have held a fake and a real Rolex side by side the difference is obvious. I have seen, and owned several fakes. Some are better than others.

I am a watch collector. Here are my observations:

Shake the watch side to side. Can you hear the weight inside scraping? You can not hear or feel the action of the weight on a real Rolex.

Unscrew the crown. Pull it out to the third stop. A real Rolex will stop running. Push the crown in to the second stop. The watch will resume time keeping. Turn the crown clockwise. The date should snap instantly to the next date. If the watch is a GMT or Explorer, the hour hand should move when you turn the crown counter clockwise. Push the crown back in and re-tighten it.

Take a strong magnet. Hold it close to the bracelets. The magnet should not react to the case or the bracelet.

Note the magnifier above the date window. On a real Rolex the magnification is 2.5x. On most fakes it is less. Also note that on most Swiss movements (Rolex included), the date is centered perfectly. In almost all cases the date is off center on a cheap watch.

A real Rolex is heavy with respect to the stainless steel bracelet. Stainless steel bracelets are hollow on all Rolex models. All stainless fakes have solid bracelets

Look closely at the second hand. It should extend all the way to the hash marks at the edge of the face.

Ignore any reference to the

I have a friend who claims hit yachtmaster is real. But when he fliped the watch on it's back it had a skeleton back. I have heard that no rolexes have skeleton backs. Thanks for ur help.

Answer

what the heck is that?

Answer

It is fake. No Rolex model has a clear back. No Rolex is skeletonized. The movement in a Yachtmaster looks like this: ttp://people.timezone.com/mdisher/andrew

Im asking because im not sure about bringing fakes back into Australia but many people I've known have done it plently of times before. im just want to know if I would be doign something illegal here.

Answer

The basic rule is you can bring fake goods into the country for personal use only ie you can bring in a watch or two to wear yourself however you couldn't bring in say 20 because they would suspect that you would sell them to people claiming they are real.

Answer

In theory you should not bring it back into Australia as copy watches breach international copyright laws to which Australia conforms. Reality = as long as you do not have commercial quantities the Customs people won't be too fussed … the suggestion to wear it is a good one

Answer

well, as the person above said.. wearing it and bring it back to aus is fine but don't bring too many like 5 or 20 or somethin~ but of course it is not good to wear a fake walch
this is my opinion

Answer

Yes…just wear it. I guess in a way it would be illegal as they expect that you declare it.
Another way to do it is buy that watch in China and mail it to your home.

Answer

Anything you bring home for personal use is generally not a problem. Its when the value is above X (determined by your country) and you obviously bought it there but didnt declare it or when its considered commercial goods, ie goods for sale or to solicit orders etc that you have problems.

I always bring home a disk wallet full of bootleg DVD movies packed with my carry on laptop. We are talking 20 or so not 200! and I have never had a problem coming through US customs even though there is Chinese character writing all over the disks so they are OBVIOUS bootlegs. I do have the occasional issues from bringing home my development samples of shoes (Im a designer so I bring samples back and forth all the time) But then those are commercial, or for work not just for my own personal use.

Wearing it is one idea but just having one, not packed in the original packaging, but just rolled in a sock or something like you would normally carry a watch to keep it safe in your luggage should also NOT be a problem. They will see a watch (no big deal) in your bag when they X-ray it. They will not go ooh Rolex! Better take it out and check this thing for fakes… If you have 6 watches in your checked bag they MIGHT check you though. Also if you ever did have an issue you are FAR more likely to just have it confiscated than have any actual problems over it. Just play dumb. "I don't know I bought it in some little shop in HK. I liked the copper colored face" You aren't smuggling drugs here or even 15 fake Louis Vuitton handbags that look like you are going to sell them. Its one watch for personal use. Not an issue. Do you really think underpaid security guards who man x-ray machines all day and look at thousands of bags a day are going to stop the line up for 1 watch in a suitcase. They prolly cant tell the difference between a real and a fake anyway.

Don't worry so much. As long as you are legitimately not a bad guy or a smuggler / terrorist / diabetic with insulin syringes (DONT GET ME STARTED ON THAT ONE!!!!) then you will have nothing to worry about. Think of how many people walk through customs every day. They are after real criminals not the rest of us. You don't have dark skin, hair and a full beard do you???

Oh and don't get worked up about yr watch and look freaked out when you go through though cause they actually look at you more closely than your bags…

I REALLY REALLY want to actually be able to see the whole thing this year! (Especially the xc). I know I missed dressage today :( but is there a website I can watch the video of it (I did try the usea website) or what is the directv chanel that shows the Rolex?

Please help me! Thx!

Answer

The web site is www.rk3de.com. They should have a link to the webcast, however I believe you have to pay to see it. To my knowledge, no TV channel is carrying a live broadcast. NBC usually does a one hour synopsis about a week later.

Answer

rk3de.org Here's the official site for Rolex. If you scroll down you'll see in the middle of the page where you can watch it live. You have to pay $13 but it's the only place I've found so far. There is another site where you can watch the stadium phase for free but I've forgotten where it is. I'll post it when I find it. Other than that, there will be a recap of the event next weekend or you can pay about $100 for the video.

EDIT: This site will show live coverage of the stadium jumping phase on Sun.

My Cosmograph on my replica Rolex Daytona isn't Working. When I press those two buttons. It doesn't do anything. Can I buy something to fix this. I really want it to work. I don't want people answering, "Well Fake Rolexes are crap" or anything like that.

Answer

Did the chronograph complications work to begin with? Depending on the movement it uses, some replicas may appear to feature the same complications but they are non-functioning and strictly for looks. Some replicas will have chronograph complications that work, but have different measurements on the sub-dials. Try to find a watch repair shop to put in a new movement (more likely than not, a new quartz movement) or buy a new one.

BTW… Fake Rolexes ARE crap.
