ok this is how you tell if it's fake the second hand doesn't tick it sweeps and if it touchs all the way to the numbers not like half way
Take it to a jewelery store. Oh yea, and the second hand should be going around the face in one fluid motion. Not ticking at all
On a true Rolex, the hands move smoothly, they do not "tick". You should have it appraised if you want to know for sure.
Take it to a jewlery store for an appraisal.
take it to a jewrey sto.
If you bought it off the street it's a fake. Take it to a jewlery store, they will be able to tell. Also the other poster is correct, the second hand on a Rolex is a smooth motion.
go to a scientist and they'll tell you or you can break it and if it is gold still it is real
You should be able to tell if it is real by taking it to a jewler who is certified, they should not charge you for this service. Also try to take the back off and look inside, if it says made in China the chances are that you have a fake. Rolexes are Swiss. You can also go on line and do research..I just did this same thing.. Hope it is real..

Try the internet site of your neighbourhood police station.
They are likely to be able to "help" you…
Ebay. Ebid maybe be better. I had a fake Tag Huer from Ebid
Have you ever considered buying a used rolex. I can see how buying a fake one can be appealing but there is nothing better than walking down the street with the real thing on your wrist. If you are interested I have bought a couple watcvhes at an online jewelry stre called Dallas Gold & Silver Exchange. There website is http://www.dgse.com.
Hope this helped!!

it has diamonds going around it…that's all i know
Real Rolex watches have a "Sweep" second hand; the second does not tick, it just moves continuously around in a smooth motion.
if the second hand ticks, it's fake. it shouldn't tick at all…it should go smoothly around the watch.
If you buy it from an actual shop then its obviously real but if it bought from a market, ebay etc most likely fake x
where'd you get it?
nice store: real
sidewalk: fake
internet: check the second hand like they said.
