If I were you, I would get him a silver one. But thats just my opinion, I'm not one for flashy jewelry. I think that gold was really made for the woman. Dont get me wrong, gold can look good on a guy too but like I said that my opinion. Now necklaces or rings I can wear gold but not a watch. Just keep it simple and remember its not the price that counts or how flashy it is. Its the thought that counts that he will remember you by.

Answer

I would prefer gold over silver.

Answer

if the question is whether the rolex should be gold or silver. I would tell you to observe which colrs he wears the most. If her wears a lot of greys and blacks them I would get silver. If he likes to experiment with color I would get gold.

Rolex watches are not bullet proof. People would not need to protect their wrist anyways. Guns are usually aimed at the chest or head not the wrist.

I have a Rolex watch, a men's datejust selfwiding watch. If i put the watch down for about 14 hours it stop running. I would assume that the winding mechanism would allow the watch to run on its own longer than 12-14 hours from letting the watch sit. The watch is probably from the mid 70's so I'm wondering if this is normal for a watch from that era.

Answer

It was designed to work from movement. Without movement, it is not uncommon for it to stop running after such a period of time.

Answer

The normal power reserve for a Rolex datejust is around 30-40 hours when fully wound (this may be accomplished by turning the crown 30-40 times and/or wearing the watch for a least 13 hours). Less than that, the watch needs servicing. Any Rolex AD can help you, but expect a hefty fee.
