Richard Mille watches are known for their cutting edge designs, sophistication, and top rate technical feats. Richard Mille has now put out a limited edition watch called RM 016 “Black Night.” There is only 10 pieces of the limited RM 016 Black Night and will be available at all authorized Richard Mille branches in Europe, CIS, Middle East and Africa.
This watch is unique from the other Richard Mille because it employs an extra flat, ultra- rectangular case. The black case is quite large in size and measures 49.80 mm x 38.00 mm x 8.25 mm. The case’s three sections are produced with the same precision and attention as previous models, with 202 separate operations used for manufacturing and assembling the case. The case is made of titanium that is DLC treated which contrasts beautifully and frames the red flange. Attached to the case is a strap that follows through with the black and red theme. The lovely strap is red rubber with a black DLC treated buckle. Scratch resistant sapphire glass can be seen covering the dial and the lateral panels. Sapphire glass also covers the display case back and the black DLC treated bezel side. The case is water resistant to 30 meters.
Inside the case is skeletonized RMAS7 automatic winding movement. This movement has a rotor with variable geometry. This feature is unique to Richard Mille and beneficial in allowing the system to customize the winding to the owner’s hand activity. The caliber has power reserve of 55 hours and allows for the necessary features of the watch, including hours, minutes, seconds, and date displays. The date window is uniquely displayed on the 7 o’clock position.

Similar to the Richard Mille RM 010 Black Night watch, this RM 016 is sure to be a hit. The RM 016 Black Night watch employs all the qualities and features that have made Richard Mille popular and unique while implementing a new look.
NOT FAKE. Richard Mille has partnered with Rafael Nadal. He excites us with a complex tourbillon mechanical watch that weighs just 20 grams (with the strap). An incredibly light timepiece, which boggles the mind given its complex movement (which itself weights just 3.83 grams). Amazing! Probably the lightest luxury watch of its type ever. Adding to the the wow factor is the intended durability of the watch. The piece marks the official partnership between Richard Mille and tennis player Rafael Nadal – who will actually wear the watch during his tennis matches. Watch lovers understand that this last point is bound to raise questions. An ultra light weight watch, with a tourbillon, made to survive the abusive stress of professional tennis. A few years ago Tag Heuer was proud of its special golf watch for Tiger Woods, made to be worn (and be comfortable) while playing golf. This new announcement by Richard Mille makes the prior Tag Heuer watch seem almost irrelevant. Though there is a price. The RM027 Tourbillon watch will cost 5000 and be limited to just 50 pieces. The case itself is 48mm by 39.7mm in size, and just 11.85mm thick. It is made from a composite of mostly carbon. Richard Mille isn’t clear on the crystal, but it is probably something other than sapphire, and is said to have a high degree of durability and flexibility. The watch strap is a flexible polycarbonate. All the magic is in the movement. It is a manually wound caliber RM 027 with a tourbillon and 48 …

Bubba Watson – the owner of a green jacket and white watch.Late on Sunday, the shaggy-haired, Bagdad-born owner of the General Lee hit an epic right hook out of the pines of Augusta National Golf Course to set him up to win the 2012 Masters in dramatic fashion. BubbaWaston won his first major golf tournament yesterday, and he did so wearing a watch. Not just any watch, but a Richard Mille RM038 tourbillon built expressly for him. We’ve shown you the RM038 before here and here, but now that Bubba is a Masters winner, we thought it was time to remind you just what it is he wears on his wrist and show you the actual watch he wears on the course, complete with grass and sweat stains.

The final match of the Australian Open this past weekend was an epic battle between world number 1 Novak Djokovic and world number 2 Rafael Nadal. It was, actually, the longest major finals match in the history of the sport, coming in at 5 hours 53 minutes and both players were quite literally exhausted during post game interviews.
But, just after Djokovic’s victory in Melbourne, we got to see both players both proudly wearing their respective sponsors’ timepieces right next to each other. You have Rafa Nadal at left wearing his Richard Mille RM035 and Novak Djokovic at right proudly wearing his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver (a watch we reviewed in detail here).
Richard Mille’s RM056 split-seconds chrono tourbillion is encased entirely in sapphire and costs $ 1.65 million – that much you know thanks to our post about it on Monday. The feedback to this x-ray of a watch has been tremendous, and according to Richard Mille, all five of the production RM056′s have already been sold – what recession, right?
So, we went back and gave the RM056 the HODINKEE photo treatment. What does, exactly, this watch look like in the flesh? Well, it is visually striking. With light behind it, it glows. The RM caliber is, as always, just beautiful. The sapphire case almost looks plastic (we assure, it’s not). The RM056, of course, reminds us of the first sapphire-centric uber-watch, the MB&F HM2 Sapphire Vision, though the RM takes the use of the brittle but scratch-resistant glass quite a bit further.
We have over ten live, detailed photographs of this amazing watch below, so be sure to click through to get a better impression of one watch that was the talk of SIHH.

This is the new Richard Mille RM056. It is a split-seconds chronograph with tourbillon with a case built entirely out of sapphire. The whole thing. In fact, this three piece case is actually milled from one solid block of sapphire, cut to allow for the movement placement and then reassembled as this watch. Sapphire is indeed highly scratch-resistant, though somewhat brittle, so in theory, this watch could break if dropped.
Still, it features just an absolutely breathtaking movement – the lightest split-chrono tourbillon movement in the world – and an incredible look.
Only five RM56′s will be made. The cost? Yup, $ 1.65 million.
One of the new Richard Mille watches to be debuted in January for 2012 is this RM 037 timepiece. While not the flagship new product, it is a nice watch that represents another nice and super pricey daily wear. The design evolution is quite interesting. Taken from previous Richard Mille watches are the hour markers and hands. The case is new, being a sort of hybrid between the thin-cased rectangular case models and those with Richard Mille’s signature barrel-shaped case design.
Like most Richard Mille watches this one will come in titanium, red gold, or white gold. Richard Mille likes to mostly show their watches in industrial looking titanium to present themselves in the most “functional” light possible. But the reality of course is that their pieces are high-end items with customers who like their products in gold. What is interesting however is that even on the titanium model, the crown and function selector pusher are in 18k red gold.
While Richard Mille has presented watches in the past with function selectors, this might be the first one which is part of an automatic movement. The new Richard Mille caliber CRMA1 automatic movement has a special crown that is not attached to the movement like other crowns. It is designed to be more separate to reduce the risk of certain types of damage. So instead of pulling out the crown to adjust the time or date you press the function selector pusher to cycle through “wind, date, or time.” The function selected is displayed via a letter in a red-bordered window place between 3 and 4 o’clock. The automatic rotor once again has Richard Mille’s variable geometry system and the movement has a power reserve of 50 hours.
The CRMA1 movement also has a big date indicator which is nicely placed under 12 o’clock in a window that looks like it is between two red parentheses. I like how despite the skeletonized nature of the dial and movement, the indicator windows and hands are still really easy to read. The RM 037 case is rather long compared to its width. It is 52.20mm tall by 34.40mm wide. It looks larger than it is. The watch is just 12.50mm thick. Overall a nice piece with an interesting new shape for Richard Mille and the feeling of what could be a convenient luxury daily wear.
