The Paul Newman Daytona is undoubtedly a watch most vintage Rolex guys strive to own, but it’s also quite possibly the most dangerous watch to buy.  You see, a Paul Newman is an expensive watch, and Newman waters are murky, and full of sharks – often times Italian, Dutch, and Vietnamese sharks that know a thing or two about manufacturing dials.  So, when buying a Paul Newman, you’ll want as much faith in your seller as possible, and preferably, some original documents too.

Which brings us to this Paul Newman above.  This watch was purchased from the original owner who wore it only to weddings and funerals, and it retains the entire, complete original package as it was when purchased on January 1, 1974 at Bucherer in Zurich (something tells us he received a little bit more than the 656 SFr he paid for this when he sold it).  The quality and condition of this 6241 is superb, and the white of the dial is as bright as any we’ve seen.  Just a great watch, and if you’re looking for a PN, it’s worth looking at this one.

Detail here.

Philip Stein Classic Fruitz Watches

Experiencing sleepless nights or just mentally frazzled? Purchase a refreshing Philip Stein Fruitz watch and you’ll increase your chances of a good night’s sleep and/or feel yourself do a mental 180. That’s right Philip Stein designs watches that help you sleep and/or lift you out of a mental illness state.

Believe it or not an actual clinical sleep study was conducted and findings were published in Sleep Diagnosis and Therapy Journal (2001; V5 N5, 27-9 Breus and Rubik). The random study, performed by Michael J. Breus, PhD, found that participant that wore Philip Stein watches that had Natural Frequency Technology experienced improved sleep; and there are numbers that support these findings.

What exactly is this Natural Frequency Technology? How does it help those suffering with sleepless nights or mental illness?

Philip Stein integrates the use of key frequencies which are beneficial to life and health, which they embed upon a metal disk and place inside their watches – their proprietary Natural Frequency Technology. This key frequency is the same frequency that is tied to earth’s harmony and grounding of life. The same harmony we experience when in relaxed and unstressed states.

Our bodies produce its own natural bio-field which is often bombarded by electromagnetic fields (EMFs) factors. Examples of such factors that emit EMFs are computers, electric razors, alarm clocks, kitchen appliances, hair dryers and of course cell phones. The impact on our bodies after long term exposure to EMFs can result in illnesses like anxiety, hypertension, and migraine headaches and yes even sleep disturbances.

Philip Stein collection of Fruitz timepieces is exactly what the doctor ordered for both the body and the mind. These vibrant and colorful watches are so delectable you may be tempted to take a bite, but don’t it’s a watch!

A sampling of Philip Stein’s Fruitz includes exciting collections like:

  • Fruitz Classic
  • Fruitz Happy Hour
  • Fruitz Sorbet
  • Peace Love
PeaceLoveFruitz
Philip Stein Peace Love Fruitz Watch

You really must try at least one of these fabulous Fruitz timepieces…they are indeed colorfully sweet and adorably delish!

The Peace Love collection is especially committed to breaking the stigma associated with mental illness. A group of community artist collaborated on this limited edition of Fruitz watches for Philip Stein. Profits from this collection are donated (10 percent) to help individuals suffering with mental illness acquire needed healthcare and treatment.

This is definitely the kind of Fruitz you’ll want to purchase because it really does restore the body and the mind all while looking fabulously stylish!

Movado is lower level luxury brand, it make both cheap and costly models, can buy some steel quartz Movado models $ 250 or so at Macy’s, brand also make gold complicated models (minute repeater, tourbillon, perpetual calendar), “1881″ line is gold basic or complicated, cost much more of steel quartz models of course, most complicated is minute repeater, it chime hour, quarter and minute when push sliding lever at case band, Movado make two minute repeaters few years ago, 18kt gold “Museum Watch” minute repeater cost $ 250,000, basic manual-wind dress watch show hours and minutes cost $ 12,500, is so costly so Cartier of same type, my cousin own $ 12,100 Cartier “Tank L.C.” and $ 12,300 Cartier “Santos Dumont”, both are manual-wind, show hours and minutes only, you can see Movado gold dress watches similar of price of Cartier, but Cartier not make $ 250 steel quartz watches, Movado have wider range of prices and types of Cartier or other luxury brands. EDIT: LiveLove only see “Museum Watch”, it have no numbers, just small circle at 12:00, is difficult tell time at such watch, that just one model however, Movado make many other watches have numbers, my cousin have Movado “1881″ dress watch have Roman numerals 1-XII at dial, he not like “Museum Watch”, he see many other Movados have numerals at dials, look at Macy’s, you see different models.

With holiday season hitting full stride, we’ve found a watch that will not only make a great gift, it’ll make a difference in less fortunate areas of the world. The watch company is Epic, and for every timepiece sold, they’ll provide clean water to an individual in a developing country for a full year. This gives you the opportunity to get that nephew of yours into watches, and to potentially save some lives along the way. It’s a win win.

The founders of Epic, Jeff and Jackie Bird, were inspired for the project by a trip to Haiti where they lent a hand in the earthquake relief efforts (something I’ve also had the pleasure of doing). It was clear that, even in the months that continue to pass, the country remains in particularly rough shape. The masses of displaced people go without many of the basic necessities that you and I take for granted on a daily basis. So the groundwork was put in place to provide water filters to the hardest hit areas.

“Water is something that we take for granted, but for the people who live in developing countries it’s the difference between sickness and health, life and death. When people wear our watches they’re making a statement about compassion and character,” says Jackie Bird, Co-Founder of Epic.

The watch you’ll get for your well-intentioned purchase comes in a wide variety of bold colors, with interchangeable rubber straps. Inside the stainless steel and plastic case is a Japanese quartz movement, but hey, it’s only $ 49.95. You can even purchase additional straps to cover all your bases.

Question by aldona s

At the Taco Bell here in Forest Hills, NY customers were told that they had to make a purchase in order to get the free taco on Oct. 30. Did anyone else experience the same? I called 1800TACOBELL (customer service ) and was told that a purchase was NOT necessary and the store in question would be investigated. They did offer to send a coupon for something “free”. Perhaps I will get it.

Bell & Ross Question&Answer:

Question by Inara

I have 2 weeks to get this little thing. Its the little bell that sits most often on hotel countertops, etc. “Ring bell for service” sign is sometimes nearby. I need this for a prop and the show is in 2 weeks. I’ve found this item on Ebay for like $ 8 total. Any other ideas? I’m just worried about ordering it online.. It might not get here on time and I don’t want to pay extra for speed delivery. Anyone know any stores that carry them?
Thanks!

Is it illegal for me to knowingly purchase a fake Coach bag, Rolex watch, etc.? If I buy this stuff, and I’m talking just one or two things, can they be seized by Customs as suspicious? Can I be detained?

Best answer:

Answer by tess_g
counterfiet purses, luggage, clothes – illegal to sell, not illegal to buy. Software, music, etc.. – illegal to buy & sell. Of course these are the rules in the US. In other countries the laws are different and if customs decides to hassle you then there’s not much you can do.
