I just received an email. I didn't even open it, but the subject caught my eye.

Brand name quality Rolexes

Is it just me, or is Rolex actually a brand name, that is know for its quality?

So if 'whoever' is selling watches that are brand name QUALITY, one would assume they are not brand name watches, only equal in quality.

So if they're not brand name, they are not Rolexes, and therefore (as the email's subject suggests) do not actually exist.

My conclusion:

SCAM

So, you got this much from the subject line and were smart enough not to open this crap and thus perpetuate it?!?!? Good For You! A double HOORAY! A genuine Rolex is horribly expensive and well worth it. A knockoff isn't worth what you'd pay for a good Timex. And I have a good Timex.

Bingo! All too often people see a name or an approximate name and assume they are the genuine article. A Rolex watch is the hall mark in quality timepieces. Would you buy a Roleex watch assuming it was the real thing? I congratulate you on your perception!

My dear friend, people are fooled every day, they want a bargan so bad they jump on anything. They will even send their info to their checking account to another country, and then are suprised when their account is emptied out. GOD Bless you.

Yes "Scam" mail!! you must be careful when opening some things like that for it sometimes just brings you more Scam mail !!! There are so much out there that you sometimes think it is OK ….but others are not. Hope I had helped you. Have a Bless day .

A guy had a fake rolex he was selling. I observed it for a few min and it turned out to be a very good fake, of course he was saying it was real. He wanted $100 for it. I told him the max I would go is 30. After a few minutes of him trying to negociate, I was clear that I wasnt paying no more than 30 and he finally gave in. Whats the MAX you would spend on a good fake rolex?

$0. I wouldn't buy or wear a real or fake one. I stick to my old beat up Timex watch. It has a faded green zip tie to hold down the stretched out elastic part that holds the watch onto the wrist band. I wear this in mockery of people who wear Rolex's and Omega's.

My son bought one in NYC for $40, it does look nice but I would have spent $0. Why have a knockoff if you can't have the real thing?

So my grandpa had this old watch…. looks like a real Rolex. It has an inscription on the back commemorating his 25 years of service at his job. I would imagine it's real…. but I have been doing some searching online and haven't found any that look exactly like it. Any ideas on where/how I can verify the authenticity of the watch?

Just go to any ROLEXdealer in any big shopping complex like Westfield…….they can certtify if its 'genuine!

Take it to an authorized Rolex dealer. All Rolex watches are registered; you can find out who the original owner was and any additional owners who have registered their ownership.

Rolex are made in Switzerland .I have 2 triple class A! Rolex they have all the quality of the real ones including hologram sticker on the back & as well as serial number . The only difference is there aren't any certificates. I can send you some photos if you're interested to check them out?

I believe they're manufactured in Switzerland but I can't be positive. I know the movement is swiss.

Although the sweeping motion is a common way, it will only help you decipher between the cheap knockoffs and real rolexes. "Good" knockoffs utilize a swiss movement as well. If you are in doubt and trying to purchase a used rolex, pay a little money and take it to a reputable jeweler to get their opinion. They can take it apart and tell you.

the main difference in most fakes vs real ones is that real rolexes needle things dont have that jerky ticking motion.. they just smoothly turn from one number to the next. in fakes the little needle stops and goes every seconds.

thats one difference anyways

if it tarnishes easily than its def. fake
real rolexes have real diamonds/stones
it would have the brand name engraved somewhere
the must be legit

I found a site on the net that has a "Spot a Fake" page attached to every Rolex they sell.

if you here the second hand ticking then it is fake and you also should look at the serial number

Other than rolex watches,what other watches brand are also good?

Rolex makes his own mechanical movements while most of the competitors don't.
These watches are very rugged and can be worn all day in most of the working activities. Other luxury brands cannot take excessive beating.
Rolex also maintain most of their value over the years, Let's say they are for life and can be passed to your kids.

Mechanical movements cannot be compared to quarz ones, at least in my opinion.

In the Rolex category or higher, you will find less known names, since they are watches for very rich people:
Chopard, Corum, Girard-Perregaux, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Maurice Lacroix, Pattek-Filippe, Piaget, Ylysse Nardin, Vacheron Constantin, and so on. These watches may cost dozens to hundred thousand dollars.
