Widely known as the inventor of the basic watch movement known as automatic self-winding movement, Perrelet has been making wrist watches since the 1700s. It is now well recognized for its Turbine watches which feature a spinning rotor visible through the dial. The design is similar and made to look like a jet engine, and the turbine blades spin as though the watch is about to take off.
The Playing With Fire is a limited edition Turbine watch inspired by the intrigue of espionage. This men’s double rotor watch is a fascinating display of elegance and beauty. The double rotor, one on the back and one on the front of the watch, is one of Perrelet’s signature features and is captivating to watch. The watch has golden ingots drawn on the lower dial and solid gold ring placed in the center of the upper turbine. The numerals, hour markers, and hour and minute hands are made of similar gold and accentuate the luminous tone inside the dial. The gold hue contrasts nicely against the black background of the dial and the rest of the watch. Slight movement of wrist will set off the turbine to create an array of golden light and sparkles between the blades, thus the name of the watch. The watch case, which has a diameter of 44 millimeters, and the bezel are made of stainless steel with diamond-like carbon coating that give strength and toughness. It has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal for added protection as well. On the back of the watch is an exhibition case back with view into the P-181 mechanical movement and automatic rotor. The black rubber strap with folding clasp is made of diamond-like carbon coated steel for easy fitting and comfort.
