Question by Big Ran
don’t get me wrong, I like shawn micheals (more then I did back in the day to be honest). But I think the IWC gives him WAY to much praise. Yes, he’s put on some amazing matches, yes he’s made some historic moments, yes he is very charasmatic, but he’s NOT the greatest ever. IMO, Hogan is the greatest ever simply b/c he was a true PIONEER. He paved the way for all guys after him, INCLUDING shawn micheals. Hogan even helped make the undertaker when he debuted. Taker one his first world title from Hogan, making him an official main eventer.
As for his wrestlemania ladder matches, people seem to forget that Scott “Razor Ramon” Hall was also apart of those matches, and helped tell the story in the ring along w/t HBK. Hall doesn’t get enough praise for the matches, and micheals gets to much, if not all of it.
Have to be honest though, one thing that stopped me from getting into HBK in the 90′s was the fact that his character looked, and moved around VERY homosexual like. I couldn’t help but be reminded of the village people everytime I saw Micheals come to the ring. The homosexual look calmed down once DX started though.
I know i’ll get crazy heat for this question, possibly even reported. But hell, i’m just speaking my mind. Freedom of Speech is a wonderful thing : )
BQ: is the undertaker overrated as well? I was always more for taker, but I think he is just as overrated as Micheals.
@broken dreams: I clearly called out micheals ability and credentials. I didn’t say he sucks or anything like that b/c I would be lying my @ss off if I said that. Also, I’m not trying to put Hogan over, I’m just stating the fact that Hogan was a pioneer, and set a path for HBK himself to follow, that in my mind makes Hogan better. Is HBK a better wrestler then Hogan in terms of ability? Of course he is, that’s obvious. But no one can touch Hogan’s charisma. Hulk Hogan is pretty much the only guy to transcend his wrestling character and market it outside of the wrestling ring. Hulkamania was bigger then the man himself, you can’t say that about HBK or Taker. They are wrestling icons. Hogan is a wrestling & pop culture icon.
edit: for those wondering why I bring up homosexuality, its b/c of the way he danced and moved around and his attire. I’m not actually saying he IS homosexual, I’m just saying his 90′s attire and the way he pranced around was homosexual. C’mon, seriously, w/o being bias here. HBK fan or not, you guys have to admit it was a bit homosexual. Goldust antics were creepy homosexual. HBK reminded me of the flamboyant ones lol.
