I have an iPhone 3G it’s on a Rogers network (YUCK) it’s a Pre-Paid sim card and it works perfectly, but the service sucks. I want to switch to Bell, but I don’t want to be paying a fortune for an iPhone plan. I want to get a Pre-Paid sim card from Bell and jailbreak my iPhone 3G and use it with Bell. Is this possible?
Answer by Greg
yea but you need it unlocked

Bell & Ross Question&Answer:
I still have a little over a year on my Telus contract but my phone is broken, the only thing I can find similar is on Bell. So if I get the phone unlocked can I get it put on the Telus network? Or will I just run into tons of trouble?
Answer by Kimi Rosestone
to be simple, I don’t think you can use an unlocked Bell blackberry on a Telus network. Telus doesn’t use SIM cards…. sorry !
you’re probably going to have to find the exact same phone but on Telus.

I was thinking about buying a new phone, but not from my Cincinnati Bell store, which is my provider. Can I buy any unlocked phone and it worked just fine, or would I have to take it to them, and pay for it to be unlocked? I dont know much about the process. Thanks!
Thanks! What is the “GSM850/1900″ and how do I change it to Cincinnati Bell?
Answer by musicnmobile
Cincinnati Bell is a GSM provider so as long as you purchase an UNLOCKED GSM phone that is at least GSM850/1900, simply pop in your sim card and you are good to go for voice and SMS
Remember, if the phone is NOT Cincinnati Bell branded, you will have to change the GPRS/WAP settings to the Cincinnati Bell settings if you want to use data
ADDITIONAL
When purchasing an unlocked GSM phone, if the phone is made for sale in North America, all newer GSM phones will be at least GSM850/1900 so no worrys
If you purchase a phone made for sale in Europe, you will have to check the specifications of the phone, it will list the GSM bands in the specs

Is there a way to unlock a Samsung Vice under Bell Network? I recently bought a Samsung Vice under Bell, but I’m just wondering if i can unlock it so that I can use my Rogers simcard on it. Thanks for any information you can give me.
Answer by ABALA
yes, it is very possible. if you know of any people that deal with phone repairs, take your samsung phone to them and have them unlock it for you. if the can that, then your phone is good to go.

Currently on my phone I have no service on it but the phone was purchased from Cincinnati Bell. I need to use it with my Verizon plan. Help. I am very technical and think I may be able to handle the unlock on my own. I don’t want to have to pay someone if I dont have to.
Thanks,
Answer by kitkatherine
No – Cincinnati Bell is on a different network type than Verizon. Cincinnati Bell is GSM and Verizon is CDMA – which means the chips inside the phone connect to different networks. You can unlock the phone but it can only be used on the same network (GSM).
What you may want to do is sell the phone on craigslist and buy a phone from Verizon. You can get a pretty decent price from craigslist if the phone is new or in good condition.

ATT is the only US carrier for the iPhone, if you unlock it, it can also be put on t-mobile
