I was just wondering if having a different racing series on the track at Daytona before the the Cup race will lay down a different tire compound in the groove that could upset the handling of the Cup cars.
The Rolex series rides on Hoosier, and NASCAR rides on Goodyear. Is this something that crew chiefs or drivers worry about?
HA…thanks John, I saw a picture of Tim Flock’s monkey in a NASCAR history book, and I knew a hand full of NASCAR fans would understand the reference!

Which series are you most wanting to see run in 2009?!
Personally, I’d like to see a WoO event again… The only thing that could top that is going back to the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals or really any USAC event. It is some of the best racing on 4 wheels…
Just a note: Pray for the Dodson family and the whole USAC crew that helps Cameron Dodson. He was critically injured in a car wreck and really nothing has been said to the seriousness of his condition other than it was critical. Cameron is an awesome talent.

Of those I’d say WoO. I’ve never been but it looks so cool on TV.
2. I’ve been to NASCAR and had a great time.
3. Rolex. I like road racing so it would be cool. I just don’t think you can see as well in person.
4. I’ve been to IRL and it was OK.
5. I’ve been to F1 and its simply 2 hours of follow the leader. Where you qualify is more or less where you finish. Waste of money.

pushrod engines are not very famous for lasting forever at high RPMs but if I was to choose it would probably be Toyota or Chevy.

I’ve not watched a lot of the coverage, but I have seen Juan Montoya, Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch driving n the race so far.

Along with all there well deserving co-drivers too ofcourse like Helio Castronovas and Jimmy Vasser etc.
They finished:
1. JP Montoya
2. J. Johnson
3. Kurt Busch
I thought it was kinda cool. Especially Chip Gannassi/Felix Sabatos Racing Teams 3rd consecutive win. A Series Record!

It’s not like they did it alone. Not taking away anything from the effort, but there are a bunch of people involved in making it happen. Most importantly in my eyes are the mechanics and fabricators who built a reliable race car that didn’t break and they kept it running for 24 hours.

Some NASCAR drivers to run Rolex 24 at Daytona: quite a few drivers with NASCAR ties [ran a race in Cup, Nationwide, Trucks, track owner] will be running the Rolex 24 at Daytona at Daytona International Speedway. Including: Jimmie Johnson, Dario Franchitti, Juan Pablo Montoya, AJ Allmendinger, Kurt Busch, Boris Said, Michael McDowell, Scott Pruett, Bill Lester, John Andretti, A.J. Foyt IV, Tony George, Brent Sherman, David Donohue, Buddy Rice, JC France, Colin Braun, Marc Goossens, Andy Pilgrim, Anthony Lazzaro, Jack Baldwin, Andy Lally, Max Papis, David Murry, Chris Bingham, Joe Varde. Tony Stewart will NOT run the race.
The Ganassi cars probably have to be favored again and have won it the last couple of years.
