Col. Jacobs, Medal of Honor recipient, address Sector New York
NEW YORK-Members of Coast Guard Sector New York and Coast Guard Station New York have breakfast and coffee with Medal of Honor recipient retired U.S. Army Col. Jack Jacobs, Staten Island, N.Y., Jan. 21, 2010.
Jacobs visited with Staten Island Coast Guard members to discuss leadership, motivation, valor and what makes an individual successful in good decision-making. Jacobs told members of the Coast Guard “Valor is ordinary people having fear, but being able to rise above it.”
Jacobs received the Medal of Honor in 1968 for risking his life and going above and beyond the call of duty to rescue 14 people while under enemy fire. Jacobs retired from the Army in 1987, and went on to work in investments.

Jacob’s with Tomato and Cheese
Jacob’s Hi Iron biscuit topped melted cheddar cheese and sliced tomato. Sprinkled with a hint of Italian herbs. This is what I call a poor man’s breakfast (or lunch, or dinner).
How to: Cut the cheddar cheese to match the size of a Jacob’s cracker. Place two slice of tomatoes on top of it. Place the remaining cheddar cheese on top of the tomatoes. Put in a microwave for 15 seconds, just enough to slightly melt the cheddar. Sprinkle with some Italian herbs. Top with another slice of Jacob’s cracker. Enjoy!
