“No more than eight thousand.” That’s the answer I always get when I ask a prospective vintage Rolex buyer what their price range is. Always Eight. Five isn’t enough to work with, and ten – well that’s just so…ten.
I’ve helped so many of my friends and colleagues buy watches that are within the $ 8,000 range that I thought I’d share some of my recommendations with you.
Obviously, you’re not making a mistake if you buy that new Panerai Luminor you’ve had your eye on, but it is a mistake if you buy one and then wish you’d been turned on to the unmistakable cool of a vintage Rolex earlier. Take it from a guy with a roll of lessons he bought at the airport.
Here are five vintage Rolex references under $ 8,000, and why I believe they’re the best buys on the market.

In the world of the one-handed watch, Meistersinger is king.
For a good few years now they have dominated the (admittedly niche) market of single-handed watches for those after a more relaxed approach to timekeeping. A little while ago Blake got his hands on their Singular – a chronograph with an interesting juxtaposition of to-the-second accuracy in timing and lack thereof in timekeeping.
Of course, if the whimsy of a one-handed watch appeals to you, you don’t have many options. And, aesthetically speaking, you’re stuck with the modern dress watch looks that dominate and define the Meistersinger brand.
The Meistersinger we’ve stumbled across today was released earlier this year and represents a pretty significant change in usual visual vibe for the brand. The Neo is Meistersinger doing a vintage watch, and we’ve got to say it looks like they’ve done it very well. Coming in at 36mm and wearing very thin this watch is on point for a look and feel straight out of the 1950s. The only design cue that mars the vintage vibe is the design of the hand, which is a little more modern, and in keeping with other watches from the brand.
I missed NXT last week; luckily I got to watch it this week. I really did enjoy it and I am looking forward to seeing these young talents develop into WWE Superstars.
What are your thoughts?
BQ: Besides Bryan and Otunga, who seem to be the most popular of the bunch; which other “NXT rookie” has impressed you? Myself, I was extremely impressed with Matt Hardy’s rookie; Justin Gabriel. He’s pretty bad@ss and really a breath of fresh air to watch; although, I’m not too sure about his clothing choice. lol
BQ2: What are your thoughts on how WWE and the “mentors” are treating “Daniel Bryan”? Do you think this is a way WWE is “getting back” at the IWC for our opinions of Danielson? I honestly thought Carlito was going to spit in his face yesterday…

Answer by ^_^MiMi^_^ I feel so bad because I missed it last night. I was so tired that I fell asleep. But from what I saw, I might like it. Daniel Bryan is one I can really see as a big superstar in the future. He just needs to work a little bit harder. He’s a great wrestler, but he doesn’t know how to sell a televised match just yet. I think they are all like that. But once they learn, I believe that this show will turn out to be amazing!
Hey now. Forgive. Yes, is painful but it is also healing. Look forward. A friend that you can always count on is looking at you from Above right now. He loves you and wants to help you. God is always at the reach of a heart felt prayer. God bless you.

If you look at this picture of the famous “Migrant Mother”, you can see that at 32 years of age, she already had extensive wrinkles, most likely due to a hard life. This woman would have only been to 2 years older than Kim Kardashian… (please don’t take offense to me comparing the two. Kim has obviously never had to work a hard day in her life, but still)
It makes me wonder, is the aging process starting to slow down as technology improves? I see men and women in their 60s look and feel a lot healthier and younger.

Answer by G.W. loves winter! I think the aging process is definitely beginning to slow down!
I’ve been watching since ’94, ’95ish. To some people here that’s ages, to some people I’m a complete novice in wrestling watching.
The other day this guy was answering questions saying Jeff Hardy was the best wrestler ever and he knew because he’d watched wrestling for 2 years. Now I admit that this guy is a jerk and I’d like to punch him in the face because he’s very annoying but everyone took the p1$ $ because he;d only watched for 2 years and he dared to say his opinion.
Everyone who’s watched for a long time at one point was a new fan. in 2 or 3 years, an enthusiastic enough fan can learn a lot about wrestling history if they are so inclined. The opinion of a fan of 1 year is essentially worth the same as that of a fan of 31 years, it’s only the older fan that disagrees.
The way I see it is if you watched WrestleMania X live in 1994 and someone watched it on DVD last week, you both watched the same actual show so your opinions are equally valid.
The only difference is that newer fans may not appreciate the context that the show was set in. For example, I know that Andre being slammed by Hulk at WM3 was big but I didn’t watch it live so maybe I will never understand the full impact. But I don’t claim to.
My point is that we’re all wrestling fans, we all have a common passion so stop hating on each other, just discuss and enjoy the business.

Answer by bruiserkc2 I don’t hate people who are new to the wrestling business. The key is that they should learn about the past and what makes wrestling what it is. You see that in all other sports, people talk about football’s past, baseball’s past, basketball’s past, etc. To me, as long as you try to learn about wrestling’s history and events in the past, I’m good with you being a fan also.
If I made taco’s at home for dinner one night, would it be healthier than going and ordering it from Taco Bell? Would the health facts stay the same? What about the other foods from Taco Bell? If I made a chicken quesedilla at home, would it be healthier then ordering one from Taco Bell?
I am just curious, and don’t mean to be rude towards Taco Bell.

Answer by auntcookie84 It is my feeling that if you make your own tacos at home you will know what quality of meat you use in them…but with Taco Bell you’re really not sure what kind of meat they use…they’re prices are pretty cheap, so I would think that making your own would be healthier.
People keep telling me that green bell peppers are just picked first and if you wait they will eventually be the other colours, yellow, orange red. I keep telling them no but they insist that’s true. They also say it explains why the red are more money since they have to stay on the plant longer.
