Many people confuse the green sticker on the back of a Rolex with a sign of authenticity. Modern Rolexes bore a holographic sticker. Rolexes made after late 2007 should not have a green sticker on the caseback, only a clear plastic sticker.

I know that that it's best to take it to a certified jeweler, but I'd just like to know, for common knowledge and just in case I couldn't get to a professional. Please help.

The Rolex case back can't be removed unless you have a special removal tool. Rolex doesn't sell them but you can get them from a good watch parts supply but with that being said, I wouldn't take the back off of your Rolex.
Have your watch serviced by the closest Rolex Authorized Service Agent. A Rolex isn't cheap and it's not what you'd call a "hands-on" DIY project if something goes wrong with it. Anything that involves the removal of the case back is best left to professionals.
