Question by Edge#1fan80

Ok first off Everybody likes Jericho more than edge…..not that people hate edge or anything it just people perfer Jericho over Edge……..i think the reason y is because of jerichos career. I really think edge should be equal to jericho…..i really think they need to make edge more superior in the ring…..i just really believe that if edge never had a neck injury back in 2003…he would had been a world champion way before 2006…IMO. and i think if he wouldnt had had a neck injury he wouldnt have to be limit himself in the ring….. if you watch Edge back in 2001/2002 he was on the same level as jericho…and i think he would be at the same level as jericho today if it wasent for his injury…and i believe if people ask whos better jericho or edge…most people would say both! in reality how can you pick one out of the two is beyond me..i really think edge is so underrated by the IWC (internet wrestling community).

Introduced during BaselWorld 2011 and often discussed already, the Rolex Explorer II ref. 216570 has been out for delivery to dealers. In The Netherlands, Precision Watches (sponsor of Fratellowatches) is the first to have one in stock already.

The large orange 24-hour hand refers to the first model Explorer II in 1971 (a.k.a Freccione or Steve McQueen Explorer) with reference 1655 and I think Rolex did a neat job on their ‘homage’. Rolex aficionados all over the world have been discussing the broad hour and minute hands and whether this was either good or bad. There is no verdict yet, let the sales numbers do the talking. Personally, this would be the modern Rolex I’d buy if I was in the running for one, I love the satin brushed bezel and orange hour hand.

Price is 6,500.- Euro over at Precision Watches. Keep an eye on their stock.

style="text-align: left;">The following timepiece auction analysis post is by Chris Meisenzahl. He is a long-time watch enthusiast and daily Speedmaster Pro wearer. He blogs at The Pretense of Knowledge and can be followed on Twitter at http://twitter.com/speedmaster.

It’s just about that time again, for the 2011 Only Watch Auction. The auction, managed by Antiquorum, bills itself as: “40 Of The World’s Greatest Watchmakers Together For Research On Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.” When they say ” World’s Greatest Watchmakers” that’s not just hyperbole (as is too often present in the superlative watch industry). This is the real-deal. The Only Watch Auction really is a who’s who of the finest brands (e.g. Audemars Piguet, De Bethune, Glashütte Original, MB&F, Patek Philippe, and many more). The auction and the timepieces are too involved to run every year, so the charity event is held every other year, dating back to 2005. Frankly, some of these pieces are so amazing it’s impressive that it can be pulled-off even every other year. (pictured at right is Lot #29, the Montblanc “Collection Villeret 1858″)

The auction is held in Monaco at the Hotel Hermitage; it would be hard to conceive of a more exclusive place to bring the finest contemporary manufacturers and watches together. Each manufacturer is invited to present and donate a unique timepiece for the auction. Manufacturers get fantastic exposure and goodwill, the charity gets needed funds, us fans get to drool over the timepieces. Everyone wins. Worth noting, 100% of the proceeds from the auction go to research.

Let’s take a quick look at three of the items that really interest me. The official list of watches and descriptions is a good place to go, after seeing how Ariel documented all of the 2011 watches (with pics) back in May. Some of the timepieces are feats of engineering, some are works of art, some are both. I say timepieces and not watches if for no other reason than the always iconoclastic Ikepod is presenting an hourglass (lot #23) for 2011! It’s a limited edition of one (see non-limited flavor). It’s fantastic. Something a little different from one of my favorite brands. The “Wish Price” for this item is 15,000 – 25,000. Compared to the other items in this auction the hourglass is a steal. And you’ll never need to get it serviced as long as you never drop it.

There’s no way to do this collection justice without mentioning the Bernhard Lederer Gagarin Tourbillon (lot #4). It’s over-the-top, extremely cool, and guaranteed to get scraped on every door jam you walk past. But you won’t care. The theme is a commemoration of Yuri Gagarin’s famous trip. The movement of course is a tourbillon that seems to hang precariously over the rest of the dial, and is visible through a magnifying glass. The ring holding the magnifying glass is intended to be reminiscent of the hatch on the Vostok-1 spacecraft. [Oh, and the video is not to be missed.] Imagine if someone took the famous Rolex cyclops window and got carried away with it. On to the tourbillon itself. This is the fun part; the tourbillon rotates not twice an hour, not every sixty minutes, it rotates once every 108 minutes! Why? Because, Yuri Gagarin orbited the earth in 108 minutes. Clever. src='http://cdn.ablogtoread.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt="icon wink Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" class='wp-smiley' title="Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" /> The details: manual wind, three mainspring barrels, and 35 jewels. The “Wish Price” for this item is EUR 200,000 – 300,000.

class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-32234" src="http://cdn.ablogtoread.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Garagin-Tourbillon-2-295x300.jpg" alt="Garagin Tourbillon 2 295x300 Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" width="386" height="392" title="Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" /> class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-32235" src="http://cdn.ablogtoread.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Garagin-Tourbillon-1-300x274.jpg" alt="Garagin Tourbillon 1 300x274 Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" width="385" height="351" title="Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" />

There are other watches in this auction that interest me, most of them actually. But there’s no denying the sex appeal and wow-factor of Lot #28, the MB&F, Horological Machine No.4 Thunderbolt “Flying Panda.” This MB&F might be one of the few that is more visually striking than the Gagarin watch above. The name seems fairly straightforward.  The two large horizontal cones/tubes that are the displays remind the wearer of the A-10 Thunderbolt warplane. The two pods look like jet turbines. And the “Flying Panda” angle? Well, there’s a small panda sitting atop the watch holding reigns, not unlike Ben-Hur on his chariot, or even Santa on his sleigh. Make no mistake, it’s an odd combo, but if anyone has the horological street-cred to pull it off, MB&F does. The details: manual wind, twin mainspring barrels, and 50 jewels. The “Wish Price” for this item is EUR 170,000 – 230,000.

class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-32257" src="http://cdn.ablogtoread.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Thunderbolt1-300x232.jpg" alt="Thunderbolt1 300x232 Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" width="468" height="362" title="Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" /> class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-32264" src="http://cdn.ablogtoread.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Thunderbolt2-300x246.jpg" alt="Thunderbolt2 300x246 Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" width="469" height="385" title="Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" />

Those are the three pieces that most catch my eye from an aesthetic point of view. And if you are buying to keep an item that you find compelling and plan to keep for the long-haul, do just that. But if you’re buying with an eye to “invest” and possibly flip one of these watches in the next couple of years, you might need to take a different tack. The truth is, there is a decent chance that with the hourglass or Gagarin tourbillon you might have a tough time recouping your money. If you want to help the charity and still have an opportunity to make this event an investment, there could be better choices. The reality is that we watch nuts aficionados are a very small percentage of the population. Everyone twenty minutes out of the womb  knows what a Rolex is, but most people aren’t familiar with Ikepod or Bernhard Lederer. The aforementioned MB&F “Flying Panda” will be appreciated by horological cognoscenti everywhere. I would also recommend that investors take a serious look at the offering from Patek: Lot #30. The only thing less enticing about the name (“Patek Philippe, Ref. 3939″) of this piece is the look. To the unappreciative there’s nothing exciting going on here. But look a little deeper and consider … not only is this a Patek (that’s enough to do it for most of us) it’s also a tourbillon and a minute repeater! That’s the trifecta. If anything in this auction will hold value and appreciate, I bet it’s this Patek. The “Wish Price” for this dream piece is EUR 450,000 – 650,000. One slightly peculiar note with this Patek is that it’s stainless steel and not a precious metal. And the case is only 33.3mm, rather diminutive for a modern man’s wristwatch.

class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-32454" src="http://cdn.ablogtoread.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/30b.jpg" alt="30b Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" width="480" height="640" title="Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" />While the Patek is a dream piece the price of entry is nothing to sneeze at. There are other options that are a bit more reasonable. For instance, the De Bethune “DB25 Special Edition” (Lot #13) is a beauty to look at. De Bethune is one of the finest and most-exclusive manufactures. In my opinion thye produce the finest astronomical/moonphase complications available. The “Wish Price” for the DB25 Special Edition is EUR 100,000 – 150,000.

class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-32458" src="http://cdn.ablogtoread.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/131-1024x766.jpg" alt="131 1024x766 Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" width="481" height="359" title="Auction Watch: Antiquorums ONLY WATCH 2011 Is Almost Here" />

What I love most about this event is that the manufacturers pull out all the stops. They’re really not afraid to push the envelope and do something a little crazy because it’s not as though they’ll be stuck with a supply-chain of thousands of unsold pieces if the design is not a large commercial success. And as this is a rare bi-annual auction, and the pieces are indeed unique, it’s quite difficult to make any kind of reasonable guesses as to the hammer prices of these pieces. Not only are there no other watches quite like them, there’s no solid history of similar items bought/sold, and people will be bidding with charity in mind. But frankly, that’s not what this event is about. It’s more about celebrating the finest watches from some of the finest sources, and helping out a charity. So unless you plan to bid on some of these pieces (and I truly hope you do), don’t sweat the auction prices, just sit back and enjoy the watches.

Question by The Clown Prince of Crime

1. The worst Royal Rumble match ever in Royal Rumble 2010. CM Punk’s preaching for 10 minutes, Khali got eliminated by a woman, and Edge’s unsurprising return.

2. Another garbage Wrestlemania after Wrestlemania 25 last year. The only match worthy of being watched is the main event. Edge vs Y2J fell flat on its face despite the high hope from IWC. Cena vs Batista failed to emulate The Rock vs Stone Cold or Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior despite being hyped as the Wrestlemania match between two of the biggest stars to rise post-Attitude Era. Triple H vs Sheamus bored the dead crowd to tears. The opening tag match lasted only 3 minutes. Rey vs Punk didn’t get enough airtime. The MITB was boring just like last year. The divas match was a disgrace like always. Bret vs Vince became the worst Wrestlemania match we’ve ever seen ever since the disaster which was Lesnar vs Goldberg at WM XX. And the last but definitely not the least, the horrible commentary provided by Cole and Striker ruined the whole event. The worst commentary provided ever since I can remember. Thanks to this, WWE had to give away 10,000 tickets before the even started because Wrestlemania 26 suffered no sold out crowd just like Wrestlemania 25. Wrestlemania 26′s PPV buyrate also dropped again. Approximately 885,000 people ordered the event, grossing $ 39 million in revenue. This figure is down from WrestleMania XXV’s figure of 960,000 buys. his amount was also less than the 1,058,000 buys that WrestleMania XXIV achieved.

3. The worst run of a PPVs ever since the year 2003. Horrible Extreme Rules with duct tape being the most extreme thing WWE provided to us. Over The Limit & Fatal 4-Way becoming two of the worst WWE PPV of all time. And finally the worst Summerslam ever since 2003. It stopped after WWE booked Night of Champions.

4. Two of the worst storylines of all time in the form of Cena firing & RAW GM.

5. WWE buyrate slipped 16% this year….and to make it worse, Vince is still wondering how the hell did that happen.

6. No Match of The Year Award but we got…Despicable Me (ukh), Knucklehead moment (yawn), and Diva of The Year (pffft!).

So, thoughts?

The Undertaker not getting any world title run causes 2010 the worst year ever for WWE.

Question by The Clown Prince of Crime

Before anyone flames me, let me explain:

1. Six weeks for Streak vs Career is really rushed, simply because HHH & Taker doesn’t have much history together to begin with. I mean, the history between them is what? A match at Wrestlemania 17 ten years ago? Compare that to the history between HBK & Taker dating back to Summerslam 1997.
2. Like I said before, HBK as special referee will avert all the attention to him and the possibility of a screw-job, even so far as overshadowing the fact HHH’s career is actually on the line.
3. To begin with, no one cares that much about HHH. Just look at the IWC which is usually vocal in everything. How many “Will u miss HHH?” “Will u cry if HHH retires?” or “Do u think Undertaker deserves to retire HHH?”, because I didn’t see those kind of questions here in WS, different from what happened to Michaels last year. Everyone is busy talking about The Rock.
4. Since it’s obvious both WWE & HHH are desperately trying to redo last year’s legendary attempt, need I remind everyone HHH isn’t on the same league with either HBK or Taker to that matter? Both in wrestling skills or legend status?
5. HHH completely ignoring Sheamus after one year build up is beyond ridiculous.
6. The fact that HHH will return after a year for six weeks only to be retired is even more ridiculous.

TBH, with Rock hosting guaranteeing buyrate, I’d rather see HHH vs Gaymus and Taker vs Vince after Vince is revealed to be RAW GM and the one who ordered Nexus to attack Taker rather than this abomination of a feud.

Question by CENAFAN FOREVER

Most of the IWC streams the PPVs over the internet for free (which is llegal) so why do you think you have the right to complain about them? Isn’t that hypocritical? It’s like saying “I don’t care enough about the WWE to support it by actually buying the PPV but I sure am gonna complain about what I didn’t like about it”. That is one of the MANY reasons that the WWE views the IWC as a joke – they make no money off of you so why should they listen to your whining about their product?
@ Dass – I didn’t say it is fair for the WWE to ask you to pay $ 600+ a year for their PPVs, but then again, how fair is it to complain about something that you didn’t even pay for? As for your news flash: I am aware that I am a part of the IWC – one that is a proud supporter of the WWE and buys EVERY PPV i watch!!

@ Karic Wind – what is your problem?

Best answer:

Answer by Dass
I want you to tell me with a straight face that you think it’s fair for the WWE to expect fans to pay $ 600+ per year for their PPVs. If I have 50 bucks to spend, I’m much more likely to spend it on Mass Effect 2 (40 hours entertainment with replay value) than I am a wrestling PPV (2-3 hours entertainment, single use), especially considering the latter is something marginally upgraded from something I get free 2-3 times a week. Plus streaming it is legal in Canada.

By the way, news flash, YOU ARE A PART OF THE IWC.

Question by CENAFAN FOREVER

The attitude era was very short lived and coincided with the advent of widespread internet usage so IWC marks think that was how wrestling is “supposed” to be. NEWSFLASH:
Wrestling is first and foremost a BUSINESS. Vince doesn’t care about the 10% of his audience (the”IWC”) who pines for the attitude era with it’s blood, booze, sex, drugs, and vulgar language mostly because:
1. They RARELY buy anything (PPV’s, tickets, merchandise)
2. They watch his shows through illegally pirated streams or torrents, further cutting into his revenue]
3. They are getting older
Most SUCCESSFUL businessed target younger audiences who will grow with them. The simple truth is that the fans who watched wrestling in the attitude era GREW UP, got jobs, got married, and had kids – leaving little time for wrestling.

Question by The Clown Prince of Crime

I mean, last night clearly showed Taker could still best the whole roster with the right opponent.

The insanely predicted match by IWC, Taker vs Cena, finally lost its chance of happening last night so we’ll have to search somewhere else.

Of course Taker going 20-0 by facing Jericho, Sheamus, and Punk in a 4-Man Elimination Battle Royal so he can actually defeat 20 men is also fascinating, but I’ll suspend my belief since Jericho isn’t even on the roster now.

The last time Taker managed to put over a youngster for good and for the rest of his career was against Randy Orton at WM 21. His 5 other attempts (Gonzales at WM 9, Bundy at WM 11, Boss Man at WM 15, A-Train at WM 19, and Henry at WM 22) has failed miserably (and rather understandably).

I’m not trying to sound like or join Bryan worshippers in IWC, but I admit that guy got talent and all (being HBK’s apprentice), so since he seems to be stuck in mid-carder and dark match level, I think we can agree the right feud with Taker can help him like it helped Orton. To top it, Taker has missed all the technical wrestling genius he encountered at Wrestlemania for the sake of doing Vince a favor and pushing talentless giants at Wrestlemania (Mr. Perfect for Giant Gonzales, Bret/Owen for Bundy, Benoit/Eddie for A-Train, and Angle for Henry), I believe simple matches like Taker vs Sheamus or Taker vs Miz or Taker vs Barrett alone can’t even begin to follow any of Taker’s last 5 Wrestlemania matces, so why not pit him with someone regarded as the best wrestler in the world, right?

It’s a pity Taker has never faced any WWE icons at Wrestlemania, but at least if WM 28 is indeed his swansong, going out by putting over the best wrestler in the world for the rest of his career doesn’t seem like a bad idea. And for those who say Taker can’t blend with technical wrestling genius, go watch Taker vs Bret at Summerslam 1997 & Taker vs Angle at No Way Out 2006 in youtube.

What do u think?
@Lord of Rock:

Taker/HHH at WM 27 also received near zero hype. Look what happened.
@Lord of Rock:

Randy Orton built his legend killer persona in one year.

Best answer:

Answer by The Lord Of Rock
no simply because no one will ever believe daniel bryan can end the streak, no matter how much hype they put into this.

and the streak has gotten so big its not about quality of match, is about how credible you are of ending it, triple h got the closest (II), daniel bryan has earn to the status of legend to be credible, and you cant do that in a year.

He talks about how it’s not about how high you can jump in the ring it’s about how good you can tell a story in the ring and that is why Hulk Hogan is the biggest wrestling star in the world and how most of the internet’s darlings wrestle every night in front of only a mere 50 people rather than 20,000 people.
