Question by lyavon2000: Looking for genuine Rolex on a budget.?
Hi. I am looking for a present for my wife and would like to get her a Rolex watch. Unfortunately I am on the budget and can only spend about $ 1500. Any suggestions where I can buy them? I prefer brand new, not pre-owned and definitely no replicas! Thank you.

On eBay you will find lots of rolex’s, many will be fakes, but make sure to ask the seller through eBays asking system if the watch they are selling is certified genuine and if they say yes buy it. While you’re waiting for it, look up ways to recognise fakes, and when you receive it employ these techniques to determine if the watch is actually a rolex. If it isn’t, then demand a refund and use he message from the seller as proof that they told you it was genuine. If its real great! Use the same method for craigslist, etc. In general, don’t expect a miracle deal, think from the sellers perspective, if they had a $ 3000 watch, why would they sell it for $ 200? They’d be losing money.
In general, you won’t really find budget prices for genuine rolex watches unless they’re used, as long as it looks nice and doesn’t have obvious signs of usage (stains, rust, etc) than your wife doesn’t have to know
Most women appreciate the thought more than the actual gift, at least at heart. While they’ll enjoy flaunting it amongst their friends/relatives, the thing they appreciate most is the feeling you care about them enough enough to go out and look for a quality present. The main rule to follow when buying one is: make sure it doesn’t look cheap or has obvious signs of use/damage (a hairline scratch on the face is not something to freak out over, a large dent or large scratch is something to worry about).
I reccomend eBay for deals, but be prepared for a huge amount of fakes. Not to be stereotypical, but things that are generally expensive but are being sold really cheap and come from china/japan are generally fakes. I’m not saying this as a racist assumpstion about asian people, but china currently has overpopulation problems, so there’s a lot of poverty, the laws are very lax and many officials are corrupt, but many people have internet access, internet caffes and ISP’s are really cheap over there.
Anyways, don’t take what I previously said as a rule, just be careful.
Craigslist has its benifets (a lot more personal, a lot less popularity, therefor a lot less fakes), but it has virtually no sales help and has a very sketchy website (difficult to keep track of things, etc, it looks like its out of the early 90′s)
P.S When using paypal to transfer money online (eBay requires it, paypal is free to sign up, though they charge relatively small surcharges) beware the paypal impersonator email. When receiving an email that appears to be from paypal, that advises you to perform a slightly or very risky thing in transactions, check the mails details. Gmail simply has a “See details” blue-link beside the address, and I think outlook express has something similar. To find out how to view the email’s full details, just google “how see mail detail @paypal.com, than it might be a fake and you should contact paypal through their website to confirm if they actually sent the mail.
Good luck in your search!
