The Panerai you see above might look a lot like every other Panerai, that is unless you’re a Paneristi. You see, the PAM 399 (and 398 – which is the same watch, but in gold) is actually a new case and crown design for PAM, and a watch that collectors are already going nuts for. Just how is it any different? Let’s explain:
Entrepreneur Jean-Claude Biver, famous for his work at Hublot, talks about innovation, creativity, and his philosophy that can be summarized by three commandments: “be the first, be unique, be different”. Video Rating: 5 / 5

It’s time for something a little different. Firstly, this piece is something the ladies will enjoy: a well finished, 33mm hand-winding classical watch. Although 33mm used to be Patek Philippe‘s mens’ size, today it’s a little on the small side even for the fairer sex. Amongst contemporary watches, the only comparable piece would be the JLC Master Ultra Thin at 34mm, and perhaps a Patek repeater or two (but obviously they’re all in very different price categories!)
This Nomos, however, is eminently affordable, and is another one of those watches that delivers great bang for the buck: you get a semi-inhouse movement, beautiful dial and hands, and a nice case. The movement is a heavily modified ETA (formerly Peseaux) 7001, which now sports a three quarter plate, snail graining on all the wheels and a very nice ‘Glashutte stripe’ finish. The hands are polished deep blue batons which hover over the ethereal silver dial, itself having a warm luster and sheen.
At this point, you’re probably wondering if the watch itself is the ‘something different’: there’s one more surprise. These images were shot with Leica M rangefinder lenses – the 50/1.4 ASPH and 28/2.8 ASPH – with a combination of adapters, extension tubes and bodies. The second image was actually shot with an M9-P rangefinder body, Visoflex III adaptor and continuous LED lighting. The Visoflex III is an old accessory that Leica made from the 60s onwards to compete with the SLR onslaught; it allows SLR viewing on your M rangefinder. I’m very pleased with the tonal palette; expect to see more of this in the future. Combined with extension tubes on the Nikon D700 body, far greater than normal magnification (up to 3.5:1!) is possible – all of these images, including the closeups, are the full frame and not crops.
Enjoy! MT
Second hand. No blue paint here; everything blue you see on a Nomos is colored by heat treatment, the old fashioned way.
We’ve shown you doctor’s watches before but today we’re bringing you a decidedly different kind. And while this one may not be collectible or feature a classic movement, it may just save more lives than all the rest.
We sometimes forget that timekeeping is a necessity for physicians and nurses, whether it’s to take a pulse, time labor contractions, make detailed records or keep appointments. And while watches and clocks are often taken for granted in most places, in war-torn regions or in poor countries, access to a simple wristwatch can mean the difference between life and death. That’s what inspired Los Angeles-based watch enthusiast, Gustavo Saiz, to start The Human Time Project, with partner, Ben Rodriguez.
The Human Time Project’s mission is to put watches on the wrists of health care workers in rural, poor countries in South and Central America, Asia and Africa. After meeting with international health officials, Saiz discovered that one of the tools doctors and nurses are lacking in many of these regions is a simple wristwatch. So Saiz set out to create an affordable, sturdy watch that could be provided to these health care workers. The result is the HTP 1, a retro canteen-style quartz-powered PVD-coated watch on a NATO strap.
The way the Human Time Project works is, you buy an HTP 1 and they will donate one of the same watches to healthcare workers in need. The watch is only $ 95 ($ 85 pre-order for the first 200) and will be available after December 16th with distribution to those in need beginning in 2012.

Do you know who Ochs & Junior is? You should. Founded by Ludwig Oecshlin and Beat Weinmann, the brand takes the foundation seen in the seminally awesome MIH watch and continues to push the limits of simplified complications. What do we mean by simplified complications? Well, for example, the brand’s new Selene Tinta (which Felix is in the process of reviewing) offers the most accurate moonphase in the entire world – it won’t lose a day for 3478.27 years, and it’s built on only five components! These five components, to be exact.
Also in the Tinta collection is the world’s most user-friendly dual-timezone watch and one hell of a beautiful 31 day calendar piece. Did we mention these pieces are made in seriously low numbers, feature no silly or superfluous “branding” and sell for well under the price of anything comparable? In fact, the date and dual timezone Tintas are around 5500 CHF, and the stunning moonphase is around 8000 CHF – all are totally customizable – you can actually choose the exact pantone color you want for everything – see?

One for the serious IWC (internet wrestling community) fans & adult fans.
Then a separate section for the casual fans and kid fans.
I don’t want to slam the kid fans as there are a good amount of kid fans here that are serious and intelligent wrestling fans who understand the business and watch more than just the WWE, as I like to think I was when I was a kid. However, then there are many who don’t understand the wrestling business and talking with them is like talking to a brick wall. They don’t understand logic, the basics of the business of pro wrestling, are quick to argue with others who don’t share their viewpoints, and will not open up and try to watch other types of wrestling from different companies.
Of course this will never happen. What are your opinions?
Of course there should probably be a section for the sport of amateur wrestling and this pro wrestling section should be in the entertainment section.
BQ: Who hated WrestleMania more this year: kid fans or adult fans?
Best answer:
Answer by myfav1 I think it would be cool but the thing is the kids would still end up on the adult section anyways. So nothing would change.
The line between Face and Heel Is becoming very blurred.
CM Punk The heel is talking about giving the people what they want.
John Cena The face is saying he could care less if the fans hate him.
Some Heels have been getting bigger pops lately.
Sheamus (even before the face turn)
R-Truth (Watch the Miz-Truth-Christian segment after Capital Punishment)
I even heard a couple Miz pops.
Wade Barrett gets a decent reaction sometimes.
Zack Ryder (before the face turn)
Heels have always gotten some cheers and face’s have always gotten some boos. But it looks like the WWE is responding to chants such as “Cena Sucks” “We Want Ryder” and Heel signs.
So the question is, Do you think WWE is introducing a new style of booking where anything can happen and storylines are unpredictable, or am I just an IWC mark getting my hopes up for no reason?
Best answer:
Answer by ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴏᴄᴋ ɪs ᴛʜᴇ ᴘᴇᴏᴘʟᴇ’s ᴄʜᴜᴍᴘ I hope this is a short term thing.
Because for the last 50 years in wrestling there has always been a good guy vs bad guy.
WWE aren’t really developing them right OR listening to the audience. Punk shouldn’t be heel and Cena shouldn’t be face, yet they choose to do nothing about it and let their audience decide, which i think is why the crowds are kinda dead these days, they don’t know who to really cheer or boo for.
