The average vintage Rolex is an expensive watch. But there exists another level of vintage Rolex buyer in this world, the type of guys who are buying the six figure pieces. You guys are probably familiar with the Red Submariners and Double-Red Sea Dwellers, but these are the buyers that are more interested in the Red Big Crown Submariners, and the Single-Red Sea Dwellers. These Rolex Mega-Buyers are few and far between, but they help shape the market for us lowly feet-first 5513 buyers. Many of them go to great lengths to find these hyper-rare, hyper-valuable Rolex sport watches, and many of them simply rely on one of the world’s few Rolex super-dealers, dealers like Eric Ku.
Eric Ku is a 32-year-old graduate of UC Berkeley. A former dotcom exec, he sold his first vintage Rolex as a Freshman in college (a Red Sub, of course) and after leaving his career in tech, established 10PastTen in 2006. He travels the world unearthing the most valuable and interesting vintage Rolex watches known the man, and we sat down with him outside San Francisco last month. Yes, the watches that we showed you here all belonged to him. Oh, and he also owns a bakery in Berkeley.
In this interview, you’ll hear about some of the rarest watches he’s owned, including an early Submariner with a WHITE dial as pictured below, a SINGLE-red Sea Dweller, and a few pieces that came from Sir Slowhand himself, Eric Clapton. 1. A Rolex Submariner Reference 6204 - This is the only known example of a Rolex Submariner with a white dial. It is very likely a unique piece, and it went through Eric’s hands a few years back.

Considering that Omega is the official watch of James Bond in the film, I’m guessing that all watches in the film would be Omegas.

When south L.A resident Nathan Radlich’s house was burglarized recently, thieves ignored
his wide screen plasma TV, his VCR, and even left his Rolex watch.
What they did take was “a generic white cardboard box filled with a grayish-white
powder.” (That’s at least the way the police report described it.)
A spokesman for the La County Sheriff’s Department said, “It looked similar to high grade
cocaine and they probably thought they’d hit the big time.”
Later, Nathan stood in front of the numerous TV cameras and pleaded with the burglars:
“Please return the cremated remains of my sister, Gertrude. She died three years ago.”
The next morning, the bullet-riddled corpse of a local drug dealer known as Hoochie Pevens
was found on Nathan’s doorstep.
The cardboard box was there too; about half of Gertrude’s ashes remained.

I have a friend who loves expensive sports cars (Porches, Ferraris, etc), but he can’ t afford one. So from time to time he’ll get dressed up in a nice suit, fake Rolex, go to an exotic car dealer and test drive a few. He tells them he’s a commodity broker in the financial district, they buy it everytime.
Anyway, he decided to try this concept out on hot chicks and it works! He gets all decked out, trades a little overtime at work for use of his boss’ Mercedes, and heads out to the clubs, where he makes his appearance as “Lance Simmons”, commodity broker (no I’m not kidding!). Suffice to say, he’s been known to take some of these fine ladys on a test drive (right to their place and he park’s them on their beds). Next morning he’s gone and never calls them. I’ve seen him do it a few times.
He would’ve never had a shot with girls like these before. He used to try and would get shot down everytime.
So, is this fair? Do you think these women are truly expecting anything more?

You gotta remember that people base their decisions rationally. And that they do it based on “the whole picture”, which is derived by what they see in a person. Your friend must’ve been a 7 (an average joe), but after the rolodex, suit, and mercedez, he must’ve seemed like a 10.
The way it normally works is if a woman is a 10, can go out with anyone she wants. However, she will most likely pick a 10. The only way she will pick a 7 is if the male 7 brings a lot more to the relationship than a 10 would.
IE: (neglecting personality)
An average looking man with average income is a 7.
But and average looking man with high income is an 7, 8, 9, or 10, depending on how high his income is.
An average looking woman with average income is a 7.
But a below average looking woman with average income is below a 7.
The reason hot women are now dating your friend is because they perceive him as a 10 and therefore on their level, rather than below them. And therefore, they are expecting more of him, than they would if he was just a 7.

I am on a quest to purchase a gold watch for my father. Does anyone know where I can find a 18k gold watch from a brand name like tag heuer , movado , Cartier, breitling or omega? Maybe even Rolex.

Question by Spade: Trying to sell a Rolex?
I have this Rolex, it’s a great watch, I have had it for like a year now, but I don’t want to keep it, as I have a new watch, and have to wear this one now, (fiance says so). I paid 7,400 for the Rolex, and I tried posting it on like 5 Ebay sites, including Ebay, but Ebay suspended my account for listing someone else’s information in my listing. I coped and pasted from a Rolex site, guess that’s against the rules. I am asking well under the normal price, but all the people on Craigslist are just scams, and watch dealers are offering me dog poop for it!!!
I just want to sell it and get it overwith, any suggestions?
They want to pay 3,500. I want 4,200 minimum. I have had it serviced once, so yes, I am sure it’s real. Rolex buyers have a lot of knowledge on how to tell, right out of the box, and who to go to to find out. Thanks for your concern.
