Introdotto sul mercato nel 1962 e prodotto fino al 1967, il Chronograph 6238 è il primo cronografo moderno realizzato dalla casa coronata, un vero e proprio antenato del Daytona. Cassa Oyster con fondello a vite, lunetta liscia, scala tachimetrica sul quadrante e vetro bombato Tropic 2, le caratteristiche principali del modello 6238, disponibile in acciaio ed oro. Gli esemplari più noti sono dotati di quadrante monocromatico (argento, grigio ardesia e nero), hanno indici applicati, gioco sfere a bastone e movimento calibro 72 di produzione Valjoux. Le personalizzazioni Rolex del calibro si riscontrano nella regolazione Microstella, nellincisione della sigla Rolex Genève sulla platina e nellimpiego di un ponte della cronografia dedicato, rinominato 72 B. Il primo orologio Cosmograph con referenza 6239 viene prodotto nel 1963 e rappresenta unautentica rivoluzione, soprattutto se si considerano i primissimi cronografi Rolex per i quali i quadranti rappresentavano un elemento soprattutto funzionale, riempiti di numeri e di linee che lasciavano poco spazio libero. Answer by merciasounds 1970 – it wasn’t really popular until the ‘Paul Newman’ one with square markers on the subsiduary dials, and the dials being the same colour.
a new version was released in 1991, with the choice of dial colours, black, white or champagne, each having the word Daytona in red on the dial, they all had screw down pushers

Answer by Mr. Charles Did the chronograph complications work to begin with? Depending on the movement it uses, some replicas may appear to feature the same complications but they are non-functioning and strictly for looks. Some replicas will have chronograph complications that work, but have different measurements on the sub-dials. Try to find a watch repair shop to put in a new movement (more likely than not, a new quartz movement) or buy a new one.
BTW… Fake Rolexes ARE crap.
