swiss rolex Question&Answer:

Question by runningtostandstill

I remember as a Christian a visiting preacher saying that he had been bought this nice Rolex as a gift, as he said it you could feel the indignation rise in the room, when he admited that it was a 10 dollar fake, everyone loosened up.

(Strange that buying counterfit goods is more moral that supporting the good swiss watch makers)

So where does the perception of money come from.

If I say I want a 8 thousand dollar watch for Christmas people go nuts, but it it based on their own financial situation rather than the bible.

If I say the same thing to a Christian who lives in any affulent area of the country its not so much of an issue.

What do you think.

Where does the line end, if I say that I want a 100,000 sports car people say well you should give it to the poor and buy a cheap car.

But what about houses, say my family home costs me 10,000 a month, should I sell it and buy a shack in some run down part of town.

I think that Christians base their views on money based on their own circumstances and view everything in that context and it has nothing to do with God.
Where I live you can not buy a house for less than 500k, and that would be a shack.

How much is enough

Matthew 19:23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Question by runningtostandstill

God can be seen in creation and life and art. Many people believe that God has given some men the ability to be creative.

We can see this in many things, paintings, music, literature, movies, theater, but also more these days other things that are superior to the norm, this can include technology (the I-pod for example when it first came out), even things like Rolex Watches, sports cars are objects of creative art based on their workmanship.

Again this can even include something like a shoemaker that spends a long time making a single pair of shoes by hand.

Now I know some of you many not get this question.

But, if Art in its many forms is inspired by God or a creator then how do you think that fits with the some christians beleiving that God wants us to live a simple life.

Paintings can be costly especialy for decent ones.

A fine watch that took the maker a long time to make is going to cost a lot.

A pair of bespoke shoes would be 3k vs 19.99 from target.

A Rolls Royce will cost you 300k but could be the finest peice of enginering around.

So what do you think. If everyone bought “a simple life” mentality we would destroy industries while promoting low income production in the Asia.

So do you think that only the non-christian should support art or do christians have the right to do so also.

Answer by Citizen of the Cosmos
You’re quite right that the values of capitalism and the values of the underclass where Christianity was born are in constant tension with each other. Especially in today’s increasingly unequal American society.

buy rolex Question&Answer:

Question by runningtostandstill

Is it the nature of the faith, or is it some sort of aftermath for them.

I have asked questions here and it astounds me how much they think they have some sort of right to infringe on my personal liberty.

If I want to buy a Rolex they are there telling me that I will go to hell for doing that and need to buy a 50 buck watch and give the rest to charity.

If I say I want to buy a Carerra they say buy an old toyota and give the rest to charity.

Now I honestly dont think they live that way, they may not be able to afford such purchases but I seriously doubt that every spare cent goes to the local homeless guy.

But I am interested in what makes them want to take away anybodys freedom and make them conform to their own social paradigm.

Despite all the fables that they will tell you if you look up history you will see that Christians were never persecuted. Even in the 1st to 3rd centuries.

In the roman empire there were plenty of religions (even the bible in romans says so) and all people got along fine. Christians were accepted as well.

It was only when Christians disrespectfuly started to smash other gods statues and break into and destroy their places of worship were people a little annoyed.

Nero did blame a lot on Christians because they were so disliked it was an easy scapegoat. But they were not seen in anyway as a positive force in the roman world.

Even today despite all the evidence against them they still seem to think they are right.

For example the bible has been confirmed to have lots of errors and contradictions over and over yet they claim it has never been proven false.

For example:

In two gospels it says that Josephs father was two different people, if you ask them they say one is talking about Mary. Despite the bible saying “JOSEPH”

Then when you say “OK but then you have to accept that the bible is not literaly correct because it said “JOSEPH” but meant “MARY”

Then they say no it is literaly true.

What do you think?

Question by Tyron G: Atheists, Theists and Christians would you agree?
saying everything exploded out of nothing (the big bang) wouldn’t you thing that’s as illogical as saying the explosion of the twin towers formed a rolex watch… think about it not from a religious or atheists prospective just look at it from a logical stand point… in order for something to form perfectly from an explosion it would have to explode backwards (just look at something exploding and rewind it and you ll see it forming together from a backwards explosion… now would you say that’s impossible for something to explode backwards… think about the big bang and tell me how logical that sounds…
yea i have a typo in here, so which one of you are gonna avoid the question and point it out lol
one more thing for you atheist just cause a christian is a theists doesnt mean a theists is a christian a theists can be a jew or ect… think about that… but note that ive never said nothing about God so wat does god have to do with my question?
