As Cartier watch models go Cartier Ballon Bleu Tourbillon White Gold Diamond watch has a heart that keeps perfect time and brings the presence of spectacular “bling”. Cartier is definitely no stranger to manufacturing watches bearing exquisite designs and details, and the Cartier Ballon Bleu Tourbillon White Gold Diamond watch is certainly in the upper echelons of superior watch design.

Cartier has expounded on its existing Ballon Bleu Tourbillon watch and re-mastered both a stunning and dazzling watch shimmering in beautiful 18K white gold. It is carefully set with baguette-cut diamonds encircling the watch dial outer case as well as its bracelet which is generously layered in diamonds. If ‘watch heaven’ existed this futuristic masterpiece of horology would certainly light its celestial skies.

At the heart of this masterpiece meticulously embedded within its watch case at 6 o’clock is its visible flying tourbillon complication, the very heart of Cartier Ballon Bleu Tourbillon White Gold Diamond watch. Shared by Cartiers’ signature “C shaped” seconds indicator rotating clockwise ever-so-discreetly.

Ballon Bleu Tourbillon Tourbillon White Gold Diamond watch showcases an 18K white gold fluted crown set with an ever so delicate sapphire cabochon. The dial is slate-colored galvanic with guilloché finish and has a sapphire crystal. It is accented with classic Roman numerals and vibrant blued-steel hour and minute hands and vogues well its 18K white gold bracelet encrusted with baguette-cut diamonds.

Technical attributes include mechanical manufacture movement with manual winding caliber 9452MC encased inside an extra large 18K white gold 46 mm diameter case with a thickness of 12.9 mm. Ballon Bleu Tourbillon White Gold Diamond has 142 parts, 19 jewels, and functions at 21,600 vibrations per hour. It also has approximately a 50 hours power reserve, is stamped with an official Geneva Seal and a transparent sapphire caseback. It is an extra large Cartier model watch.

Cartier has designed Ballon Bleu Tourbillon White Gold Diamond Watch to represent, as it states, “The beginning of a legend in a dream world.” This watch is certainly a dream transcending between sub-conscious horology design realms of both classical and innovative worlds of ultra-refinement, defining a new trend in luxurious fashion. Every detail of this timepiece design and presence has been dedicated to fashion conscientious connoisseurs whose lifestyles commands bold and glamorous statements of arrival.

Cartier is the very personification of excellence and the Ballon Bleu Tourbillon White Diamond watch certainly bears the persona of excellence. This watch is for the exceptional few daring to indulge and experience the excellence of Cartier Ballon Bleu Tourbillon White Gold Diamond Watch while walking on the red carpet or for that social dare-devil willing to shatter all social etiquettes while on mere causal outings.

Cartier watches are known not only for their beautiful craftsmanship but also for their durability. These luxury watches are often passed down generations. One of Cartier’s newer creations is the Calibre de Cartier Astrotourbillon, which was produced at a limited amount of only 100 pieces. The watch is quite elegant and stylish.

This Cartier Astrotourbillon comes in a 47 millimeters diameter and 19 millimeters thick case that is made of titanium. The light weight of the titanium makes the watch extremely easy to wear on the wrist despite its large size. It is water resistant to 100 feet. Inside the case is a stylish dial with beautiful features. The hours are marked by large and bold Roman numerals that are easily legible. The hour and minute hands are sword shaped blue steels. On the side of the case is a heptagonal crown that is made of titanium and set with a sapphire cabochon. The crown is protected by a satin-brushed and polished double shoulder from any impact or force that might affect the watch. This back of the case is transparent and made of sapphire crystal.

The case houses the astrotourbillon movement that has unique features that make it different from the classic tourbillon. This manual winding caliber 9451 MC movement has a tourbillon carriage that has the balance spring and escapement systems. Unlike most tourbillons however, this does not have the whirling dances in a fixed corner, and the carriage is not on the same rotational axis at the balance and escapement wheel staff. Furthermore, the entire tourbillon assembly is above the rest of the movement between two dials and not integrated into the movement. The noticeably elongated carriage of the astrotourbillon allows for one revolution of the entire dial every minute. The arrow shaped balance bridge acts as a seconds display instead of a hand. The carriage is balanced by platinum counterweigh which is obscured by the central dial. The Cartier Astrotourbillon is very tough and can withstand shocks of up to 5000 Gs. The astrotourbillon measures 38 millimeters in diameter and is 9 millimeters thick. This 23 jewel movement has a frequency of 21600 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 48 hours.

The strap of the watch is a beautiful black alligator skin. The clasp on the strap has a double adjustable folding and is made of 18K white gold. The Cartier Calibre de Cartier Astrotourbillon is quite an impressive watch and very masculine.

Why Cartier is Best

Well-known French watchmaker Cartier has a famous reputation for providing elegant designs and precision technology to keep each piece perfectly on time. These fine watches are given high regard both by international buyers and those within the exclusive watch industry. Amid luxury watch collectors, a Cartier is a must have.

Cartier-Watches-2

Cartier has been described by many as an appealing brand, mainly due to the unique French style and impeccable inner workings. For many, Cartier represents diversity as well. The watchmakers offer so many different styles of artistic watches, that any lifestyle or personality can be fit into a Cartier.

Some of Cartier’s most well known watch lines include the Roadster, Tortue, Tank, Tankissime, Calibre de Cartier, and Pasha de Cartier. The Roadster is especially known as Cartier’s sportiest watch, meant to evoke feelings of power and high performance one would expect of a sports car. Though originally made with the male watch enthusiast in mind, the Roadster model has since expanded to a women’s watch, available in gold and steel and set in diamonds for the female Cartier fan.

Cartier is also highly acknowledged in the fashion world, as Watch Shop online watch blog put it “the company has produced some of the most iconic dress watches ever put on sale.” Many Cartier watches have been painstakingly engraved with lavish designs on the case, and are highly polished to ensure an elegant shine to further embody the timeless tradition and style Cartier is known for.

The watches inner workings are also given the same meticulous attention to detail. The watches are fitted with all types of movements the watch consumer could want, and are designed according to the same work ethic on the inside as on the outside. However, the Watch Shop online points out that “the skill of watchmaking extends much further than just making something that looks nice.” Cartier ensures their watches work in exact detail and truly can withstand the test of time.

Though Cartier is a luxury watch brand, and prices for a single watch can reach heights of $ 60,000, there are also watches available for much lower prices around the $ 2,000 range.  By offering such wide price ranges on their watches, Cartier has allowed themselves to become a household name for all class ranges. Cartier also offers timepieces in unique metals that many other luxury watch companies don’t offer, such as palladium, titanium, and pink gold.

Cartier also offers large selections in luxurious leather goods, perfumes, jewelry, and accessories from fountain pens to new baby gifts.

Cartier is known partout dans le monde for it’s fantastic (and fantastically expensive) jewelry; it is fairly common knowledge among horological enthusiasts that Louis Cartier’s beloved square design was inspired by the military vehicle known as the tank; a few are even aware that the company contributed significantly to the popularization of the wristwatch in the early 1900s when they created a watch (the Santos) for a pioneering Brazilian aviator named Alberto Santos-Dumas. But did you know that the company is also a devoted and effective champion of the modern arts?

Originally conceived in 1984, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain (Cartier Foundation for Modern Art) was intended to promote modern art and serve as an expression of Cartier’s commitment to supporting and sponsoring the contemporary arts. After ten years near Versailles in France, the Fondation Cartier moved into a beautiful new building designed by Jean Nouvel in Paris, an inspiring work of modern art itself.

Over the years, Fondation Cartier has played host to (and commissioned works by) such artists as renaissance artist and American pop culture icon Patti Smith, French comic strip creator Jean Giraud, Japanese animator Tabaimo, fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, painter Bernard Piffarretti, sculptress Sarah Sze and filmmaker Raymond Depardon. They have also dedicated entire exhibitions to ideas and movements, inviting artists to contribute to an overall theme. Graffiti, the desert, rock and roll, virgin lands and humanity’s relationship to the world have all been motifs explored and celebrated by the foundation over the last 18 years. Their current exhibition ends in March and is an in-depth look at the intersections of art and mathematics, two ostensibly unrelated subjects until one looks a little deeper.

“Mathmatics, A Beautiful Elsewhere,” is the result of the cooperative efforts of artists with eminent scientists and mathematicians such as Giancarlo Lucchini, Jean-Pierre Bourguignon, Misha Gromov and Nicole El Karoui. Representative of various disciplines – differential geometry, number theory, probability and partial differential equations, to name a few – the nine artists chosen to take part were picked due to their “exceptional ability to listen, as well as for their great sense of curiosity and wonder,” according to Fondation Cartier. Their goal: to turn abstract mathematical thinking into an experience affecting all five senses. Among the artists chosen were the multi-talented Michael Alberolba and Tadanori Yokoo, the painter Beatriz Milhazes and American icon David Lynch.

In addition to the ongoing exhibition, Fondation Cartier also offers a series of evening events called “Nights of Uncertainty,” in which some of the more provocative linkages between math and art are explored further through activities and discussion. The first four of these have already occurred, unfortunately, but the final event – “The Big Night” – will be March 15 at 8:30PM. Hosted by Jean-Pierre Luminet and Etienne Klein, among others, the evening will focus on “cosmo-theological uncertainty,” the number zero and the “absolute origin of everything.”

The exhibition closes on March 18. If you’re in or around Paris between now and then, it may be worth your time to head down to 261 Bvd Raspail and check out the Cartier monument to modern art and it’s homage to mathematics.

Cartier Watches‘ Art of Time exhibit, a showcase of their rich history of creativity in watchmaking technology and design, moved to Asia for the first time.

Formerly on display in Switzerland, the Art of Time moved to the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore in December 2011. Celebrating over 150 years of the French luxury watch manufacturer’s history, the Art of Time features fine timepieces and movements from throughout Cartier’s influential history.

The exhibit features creative art direction by Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka. Yoshioka, winner of the Cultural Affairs Section of Government of Japan’s 2006 Encourage Prize and known for his elemental environment designs, lends his atmospheric talent to showcase over 150 Cartier creations. The horological displays ranges from a 1874 enameled chatelaine watch to the ultra-modern Cartier ID One concept watch.

Yoshioka’s art direction lends style and accessibility to the exhibit, allowing all visitors to appreciate the Cartier legacy. The exhibit features iPads to guide visitors through the intricate watchmaking process as well as holograms to separate and display the mechanisms of watch movement. Cartier’s famous wristwatches are displayed in suspension within large glass cases with magnifying lenses at eye-level, allowing visitors to encounter the watches’ minute details.

Throughout their history, Cartier has figured prominently in the history and development of watches. Among the features of the collection, the Cartier Santos watch made wristwatches popular in 1911 where pocket watches had been the standard vogue. The Art of Time also features several standing mystery clocks. Fashionable in the early 1900s, mystery clocks feature ornate designs to cleverly hide their mechanism so that the clocks appear to operate mysteriously. The mystery clocks featured at the exhibit include the 1923 Large Portique mystery clock, the 1926 Chimera mystery clock, the 1928 Elephant mystery clock and the 1931 Deity mystery clock.

The modern keynote of the exhibit is Cartier’s new concept watch: the ID One. Yoshioka surrounds the watch with stems of white plastic, adding a unique atmospheric design element to the presentation that recalls the accumulation of Cartier history leading up to the creation of the ID One. The ID One features a niobium-titanium case and a carbon crystal anchor/anchor wheel. The advanced technology of the ID One requires no adjustment in the lifetime of the piece.

As a concept watch, the Cartier ID One will not be released commercially. Instead it displays the eminence of Cartier in the world of advanced watch engineering and haute horlogerie. The collection is on display until Feb. 12, when it moves onto the United States and China.

Cartier Modern Times 5 Cartier Temps Modernes de Cartier Watch Hands On

“Well ain’t that pretty” I thought when checking out this new high-jewelry piece from Cartier this year. “Too bad it is a woman’s watch.” You could almost mistake it as a men’s piece given its 42.8mm wide size. Called “Temps Moderne de Cartier,” this watch is a high-end testament to the classic film “Modern Times” by Charlie Chaplin.

The timepiece is curiously cool and full of the whimsy and playfulness that has marked high-end jewelry watches for a while. No longer is it OK to merely have a watch with loads of precious stones all over it. These days that watch has to do something fun and unexpected to be considered worthy of attention. It just got too easy to make a nice plain jewelry watch I guess.

Cartier has a number of such watches this year. A good example in another piece is a spinning dial-mounted diamond-encrusted panther which is actually the automatic rotor. Yes, another watch for women. While that piece is cool the Cartier Modern Times really caught my attention for its look and commentary on watch culture. While the movie Modern Times was about factories and large machinery – the watch is about movements and gears.

In the video you can really see what the watch does. Take your hand and rotate the bezel to actually make the gears on the dial move. One gear contains the watch dial (with a Swiss quartz movement inside of it). That dial is able to spin all around the face of the watch as you play with the bezel. The operation is smooth and great to see in action. Really a neat little item and I love that Cartier made this.

Cartier Modern Times 4 Cartier Temps Modernes de Cartier Watch Hands On

Cartier Modern Times 1 Cartier Temps Modernes de Cartier Watch Hands On

The Temps Moderne de Cartier watch case again is about 43mm wide and in an 18k white gold case covered with diamonds on many parts of it. The one-piece lugs are attached to a white fabric strap and there are more diamonds on the 18k white gold buckle and the lugs. The dial elements are done in 18k white gold with more diamonds and a mother-of-pearl background. In addition to being all “geary,” the dial is quite beautiful as a jewelry item.

Cartier Modern Times 3 Cartier Temps Modernes de Cartier Watch Hands On

Cartier Modern Times 2 Cartier Temps Modernes de Cartier Watch Hands On

Overall the Temps Moderne de Cartier watch has about 3.7 carats of diamonds (508 brilliant-cut stones). That is a lot of ice and will result in a rather pricey proposition. That is OK – the second I handle a watch like this I know it is for 99% appreciation, 1% acquisition. The very few people buying this get it because they know other people will marvel over it – no matter how much it exists for novelty purposes. Despite it clearly being a women’s watch I wouldn’t be too surprised to see dude’s wearing it in certain parts of the world…
