Back prior to the Bonhams Haslinger Heuer Collection sale, each of us HODINKEE writers picked a particular watch that we had a particular fondness for. I picked a special MG Carrera, which at the time was the only one most folks had ever seen. The Heuer collector community got a bit of a surprise last week when a second MG Carrera surfaced, this time on eBay.

Question by undecided future: do race cars HAVE to have a manual transmission?
i have been watching the sports car racing for a while now ( 24 hours rolex/silverston/lemans/nurburgh nd the various series associated with them) and they all have manual transmissions of some form (sequential f1 traditional h), so i was wondering if it is a rule that they have to be manual? or do they just choose manuals to allow more control,

Answer by emiller1998 Depends on the series. NASCAR requires a 4 speed manual trans with a clutch. Some series allow sequential manuals.
Considering that these are supposed to be a skilled driver I don’t see why they should be allowed to use an automatic.

I know a guy who had to sell his $ 950,000 house and move to a $ 120,000 house, drive a $ 15,000 car instead of a $ 60,000 car, and sell his rolex and wear a regular seiko. This guy also has to live on a real tight budget now and cant just spend $ $ $ $ whenever he feels like it..Dont you feel sorry for people like this????
