One of the more impressive watches to come out of Basel this year came not from the quiet cantons of Switzerland, but rather from none other than the quintessential Japanese brand, Seiko.

The Seiko Astron is a Solar GPS watch and takes its name from the Seiko Astron of 1969, the worlds first quartz watch (which got a very cool reissue recently) . Invoking the Astron name isn’t (just) convenient marketing on Seiko’s behalf; the Astron of 2012 is a worthy successor to its groundbreaking namesake.

What makes this watch special is a low energy GPS receiver that means that this watch can talk to GPS satellites to determine the time and date on its own. The receiver in the watch gets a signal from at least 4 satellites to accurately update the time, one a day, and in every timezone on earth. How this works in the real world is the really cool part. You step off a plane, hit the button and in about six seconds your watch will have synchronised the time from satellites (the indicator at 10 tells you how many). Once it’s worked out the time, it will take another 30 seconds to automatically adjust the time for you. It’s easy to see why this watch would be a boon for jetsetting types.

Question by King Cliff (We miss you HBK)

For a prime example, take John Cena and Evan Bourne. If Bourne had the mic skills, it’s safe to say he’d be main event talent now, but his mic skills seem to be stopping him. Bourne has incredible in-ring skills, Cena has incredible mic skills. Bourne is okay on mic and Cena is okay in the ring. And then you take all that and throw it in, Cena is the main eventer and Evan is the mid-carder. Cena is not anything special in the ring but his mic skills have got him this far. Evan’s in ring skills don’t seem to be getting him that far. So, do you think in Wrestling Entertainment, it’s more about promos than actual wrestling?

BQ: Would you consider half of the IWC bandwagon jumpers? I mean, I saw a guy who was a fan of Cena on a question. Cena got bashed like hell, and today, I saw the questioner answer a question bashing Cena. I think it’s pathetic. Also, Orton was loved before his inevitable WWE Championship win, and now he’s hated like hell. I mean, what’s wrong in being WWE Champion? Orton and Cena are actually good wrestlers, WWE just limits their move sets. Why is it, that Orton and Cena are hated when people like Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes are constantly praised? Is it the fact that half of Orton and Cena haters are bandwagon jumpers or people just hate faces and love heels?

There is no right or wrong answer to the BQ. So feel free to leave your opinions?

Best answer:

Answer by Gage, The Prophet
It definitely seems that way. A perfect example is The Miz, who isn’t that great in the ring but is awesome on the mic.

BQ: Yes. The whole IWC is BS. Just a bunch of haters who never shut up about great things were ten years ago.

Bell & Ross Question&Answer:

Question by Devan!

The bell is kind of a tight fit to the body for some reason. It was REALLY hard to get the bell off I broke sweat and my hands and arms are really tired.

Can I put valve oil on it to help it slip out a little easier?

Best answer:

Answer by Music Man
I received an email today saying all things can be fixed with two items… If it moves and shouldn’t, use Duct tape; if it doesn’t move and should, use WD-40. Once you get the bell off, wipe the oil off of it really well (I’m not sure, but I doubt the corrosive elements in the WD-40 are all that good for lacquer). You could put tuning slide grease around where the bell meets the body.

Question by hamzeh Abu-jassar

I have connections in China to get whatever I want basically. I was thinking getting some fake rolex, breitling, ect. But I dont know what demand would be for it. So I would only spend a couple thousand. Im also considering buying some land in Jordan because it is a rapidly developing country. Stocks? Is obvious but im in no way an expert.

Best answer:

Answer by Jay Chang
$ 8,000 is a nice sum of money to invest, but I think you will lose a lot of it in stocks and trading fees if you don’t have a good broker or some financial advisor to assist.

I am an internet marketer and I would say invest that $ 8K in an online business. Email me at jaimyn.chang@gmail.com if you want to talk more. I’m open to talking with you.

Question by Emii Guss: Can anyone tell me anything about my Longines-Wittnauer inc, USA Bronze coin set?
i have a set of 30 of these coins with an american historical event on each and i cannot find anything on them. like how much their worth or when they were made. any information would be nice, especially if they’re worth anything!

Best answer:

Answer by curtisports2
Medals were made and sold using the Longines-Wittnauer name during the heyday of collector medals in the 1970s. Some sets were made by Franklin Mint and some by Medallic Art Co. (who produced tons of top-quality stuff and made many of the official Presidential Inaugural medals).

I once had a set of silver presidents medals made by Medallic Art. It had the name Longines-Wittnauer and was sold to customers of American Express. Any of the various silver editions are sought by collectors and investors in silver bullion.

Unfortunately, the bullion value of a bronze medal isn’t much. Collector value isn’t high, either, because there is nowhere near the number of active collectors of medal sets as there was 30-40 years ago.

I found one site that is selling individual medals in uncirculated condition for $ 2, $ 3 and $ 5, depending on the subject. However, a count of the number available (plus the few pieces listed as SOLD) shows 35 medals. These are the 40mm pieces (roughly the size of an American Silver Eagle coin).

They are #s 912 – 946. Check this list of subjects against yours. I could not find a checklist for this set, so I don’t know if this list includes pieces that aren’t part of the set and your set of 30 is complete, or if both of you are missing some pieces.

A full set of medals would sell for less than the total of individual medals, because dealers buy these sets and break them up for profit. As the demand for these items is small, I would expect a price in the $ 30-$ 50 range, if the set is complete at 30. Less, if a collector needs to go out and find the missing pieces.
