Question by Extreme Pacifist: How can someone else have my exact email address if they have to register with yahoo, wouldn’t yahoo block it.
I recive about a hundred emails in my bulk folder daily. I don’t mind, I just review the bulk mail and empty the folder, but sometimes a relevant email will be in my bulk folder and I just move it to my inbox. My two questions are: 1:a) Why do I recieve so much bulk mail,and 1:b) how can I stop them ? and 2 and this is the important one) I recieve an email in my bulk folder at least once a week from tsoldo@yahoo.com, that is the exact same email as mine, and it says:

My biggest concern is not that I am being solicited, but that someone else can have the exact same email as mine, Anyone could email anyone else using my email address and they would think it was from me, you understand?
How is this possible that someone else can have the same exact email as me? I don’t want to change my email address after all these years, but, I assume that you have the power to stop someone else from using my email address, by threatening to cancel their yahoo account. 1. The spammers obtain your email address from various sources. Could be mailing lists you subscribe to, anyone you gave your email address among many others. Sometimes they will use a system that creates millions of random email addresses to get through and then if you respond or click anything they know you are for real.

2. Your address is being “spoofed” there are programs out there that allow you to make it appear that it comes from someone else, in this case you. There is work in industry to clean things up so this can’t happen but it’s the nature of the beast for some time to come.

Any threats to these spammers likely won’t get through to them.

Best thing to do is to create a new account that you only share on a VERY limited term and have another account that you use to sign up for things.

I want to buy a gold necklace. However, I go to the jewelery store and it’s like $ 1000 for a 14k gold necklace. It’s really shiny though, are the $ 50 ones out there just as shiny? Why are some sold at $ 50 while others at $ 1000? How will people distinguish between something that costs real money versus some $ 50 rip off?

How much can I expect for an 18k Figaro gold necklace? 14k Figaro gold necklace? 18k means it’s more pure gold and lighter right? Why is it that a gold watch from Rolex will cost you $ 30k while a gold necklace will only cost like $ 3000?

Anyway, would $ 1000-$ 3000 for a 14k Figaro gold necklace be a fair price? That’s the price they’re selling at, not the “estimated retail price” where they mark it up. I couldn’t find 18k, but I’m interested in prices for that. Also, do prices go down during Xmas shopping season? If so, how much of a discount can I expect or should I just buy a necklace now?I’m wondering in the event that the price of gold might affect price/discount
Also, what’s better? White gold or yellow gold? These are still real gold right?

Also, why are the prices on Amazon for Figaro gold necklaces so low? Like below $ 500, should I buy at Amazon instead of a jewelry store? Or is there some kind of catch to the ones listed on Amazon because these are really cheap…

First of all, a necklace or jewelry or a Rolex is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it, it has almost nothing to do with the amount of gold.

The price of gold is escalating rapidly, but gold jewelry is usually priced far higher that the price of the amount of gold in it. Gold price right now is $ 795.50/troy ounce. Tomorrow it will be higher.

pure gold is 24K, but gold is too soft to use for jewelry, so they add stuff to it, thus 18K, 16K, 14K, 12K. It could be gold plated, which looks about the same as pure gold. Caveat Emptor!

Question by Chris: Yahoo Spam Blocker not working?
I have my Yahoo Spam Blocker set up to a TON of variations of “Rolex,” “Watch,” “Replica,” “Medication” and “Discount” but the spam keeps coming through! It ends up in my bulk folder (and not my inbox, thank god!) but it’s still annoying! I’ve tried a TON of different combos of the above words: both in the subject line and the body of the email, but the junk keeps coming through!

Any advice? I’m still getting about 10-15 per day! (That’s down from 30 or more per DAY before I turned on the filter, but it’s still getting me down.)
I should mention, I don’t use IE at all the problem isn’t web based as it persists on any computer I use. I’ve also tried editing the Spam Blocker settings from different computers: both Windows and Macs.

One thing that might help is deleting Cookies. After using the Internet Options – General – Delete Cookies, then search for Cookies. Sometimes they are duplicated in another folder unbeknowst to your Browser

In the USA there are some crimes where a person may sell what looks like a diamond ring or a rolex watch for what appears to be a discount price on a genuinely expensive item. Except the items are fake, so the seller makes HUGE profit.

Also sometimes people who don’t have alarm systems get robbed.

But in Canada everyone can usually leave all their doors unlocked because these crimes are very very very infrequent, correct?
I like to think Canadians are all too nice to commit these crimes. Instead, everyone asks permission to borrow and return needed things from each other, like family.

Terrible things happen in Canada to. Friends of mine had their house broken into and many of their things stolen only a month ago. In some areas crime is less frequent then others but it happens all over no matter where you are. If you live in Rural Newfoundland or Vancouver British Columbia there is some crime.

Where I live people tend to leave some doors unlocked and car doors opened. In some areas this is fine, but I’ve had my car broken into and things taken.

Wal-Mart only sells jewelry/watches from some manufacturer by the name of Elgin. Why is it that I can’t find any Seiko watches or Rolex or Citizen or Fossil watches? My parents’ response was “Those brands do not want to be affiliated with a ‘Discount House.’ ” Why did they call it a “Discount House”? They also said that those brands are exclusive to specialty jewelry stores. Are my parents right? Do you think those brands belong ONLY at dedicated jewelry stores? Are those brands “too good” for Wally World?
