Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates the 80th anniversary of their iconic Reverso watch in 2011. Their virtual Reverso museum is one of the initiatives to celebrate this achievement and Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ultra thin Reverso “Tribute to 1931″ is certainly worth mentioning as well (click here to read my review for AskMen).

From today till the 4th of March, Jaeger-LeCoultre invites all aficionados of the Reverso to participate in an online competition “The Reverso Treasure Hunt” and compete for the chance to win a Reverso or a tour to Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture in Le Sentier, Switzerland. The 4th of March has been chosen as an end date, since that was the date the patent on the Reverso mechanism was filed.

To participate in this contest, follow the stages below:

Stage One: join Facebook to answer 7 questions on Jaeger-LeCoultre iconic Reverso watch. All answers should be correct to get a chance to win. Hint: search for the answer by browsing through the Facebook page and Jaeger-LeCoultre official website.

Stage Two: check Facebook on February 21st for instructions that will tell you where to go to find the secret code. You have 10 days to undertake the journey. Upon the arrival to the destination, check in on Facebook via “Facebook Places” application for your mobile phone. Find the object carrying the secret code and enter the code online.

Final Stage: Once the secret code has been entered, rolex wrist watch, check the brand’s Facebook page on March 4th when the competition winners will be announced.

Question by abcdefghijk1

I have a friends dad who:
Had to sell his 1 million dollar home and switch to a modest $ 110,000 house
Sell his 80,000 BMW and get a used Honda Civic
Even had to sell his Rolex collection and now only has a cheap sieko he wears around.
This guy even has to live on a tight budget and can’t spend lots of money on stuff anymore, like he was planning on buying his son a $ 50,000 car, but he had to get him a $ 3,000 cavalier instead.

Don’t you feel kinda sorry for people who have worked hard and are not in this bad situation?

Best answer:

Answer by Lea L
No I don’t. There are so many people losing their house, becoming homeless, relying on a food stamp budget of 200/mo just to eat. This guy in your situation is just becoming a regular old middle classer. Nothing wrong with that.

Am I spoiled????????????

Question by

Ok so yesterday I graduated from 8th grade. I feal like my dad bought me too much stuff though. this also kinda counts for my birthday because next month I’m turning 15. I’m still 14 but I tell everyone I’m 15 for some reason. So anyway this is what I got:

-A $ 3k rolex watch
-A black berry torch (I needed a new phone though, My other phone was some crappy flip phone that I hated)
-a macbook air (once again my other computer was old it was like 3-4 years old and it was so slow! so we donated it to charity)
-a bunch of new clothes from gucci,D&G,prada,Michael Kors,burberry,and other dedesigners-an ipad 2g
-an ipod touch 4g
-a $ 400 camera
-a ps3
-a $ 1k skiing outfit
-$ 400 skiis
-a $ 300 prada wallet
-a bunch of new shoes from gucci, prada, and nike
-I’m going to one of the most expensive high schools in vermont that is around $ 65k a year
-my parents took me and everyone else from my family to a very expensive restaurant that came out to be about $ 2,500
-I’m going to a film camp that is around $ 5k
-I’m also going to a basket ball camp that is $ 4.7k
-a nitendo 3ds
-a $ 1.2k burberry watch
-A bose stereo system
-a bunch of gucci and bolle sunglasses
-my dad is having my room extended and having a walk in closet put into my room
-a new leather sofa that was $ 1.2k
-a new leather love seat that was $ 800
-a computer chair that was $ 300
-a poster sisignedy eminem

So I feal like I got so much Like the second I saw all that I was like “HOLY SH!T!” So do you think my dad spent way too much? I mean family is pretty wealthy and my mom and dad both make a lot of money so it wasnt like my parents are in dept they payed it all in cahs. They also didnt really think it was that big of a deal that they spent that much. So am I spoiled?

Best answer:

Answer by Amber C
Haha – Yes I do think it is good – But isn’t that a lot? Material things are nice, but don’t forget it is not everything. If he is as wonderful as I’m thinking he is (since you got him all that stuff), then I think he will like the home made gifts the best. But yes, I think that is an amazing gift. Bravo! :)

Question by runningtostandstill

God can be seen in creation and life and art. Many people believe that God has given some men the ability to be creative.

We can see this in many things, paintings, music, literature, movies, theater, but also more these days other things that are superior to the norm, this can include technology (the I-pod for example when it first came out), even things like Rolex Watches, sports cars are objects of creative art based on their workmanship.

Again this can even include something like a shoemaker that spends a long time making a single pair of shoes by hand.

Now I know some of you many not get this question.

But, if Art in its many forms is inspired by God or a creator then how do you think that fits with the some christians beleiving that God wants us to live a simple life.

Paintings can be costly especialy for decent ones.

A fine watch that took the maker a long time to make is going to cost a lot.

A pair of bespoke shoes would be 3k vs 19.99 from target.

A Rolls Royce will cost you 300k but could be the finest peice of enginering around.

So what do you think. If everyone bought “a simple life” mentality we would destroy industries while promoting low income production in the Asia.

So do you think that only the non-christian should support art or do christians have the right to do so also.

Best answer:

Answer by Citizen of the Cosmos
You’re quite right that the values of capitalism and the values of the underclass where Christianity was born are in constant tension with each other. Especially in today’s increasingly unequal American society.

k so my bf gives n buys me anythin i want n i yet havent given him anything in return other than a photo album of us both (i know i know terrible gf) its almost our anniversary n i have no clue on wat 2 give him!! i wish i could give him somthing expensive like a rolex but i gotz no cash!! its so frustrating havin almost no cash but i have to go thru it!! any ideas on wat to do 4 him??

Best answer:

Answer by Lexxie A
A photo album of pictures of you two is much, much more thoughtful than some store bought gift. You’re not a terrible gf and him buying you things doesn’t make him a good bf. He might be great, or a perfect boyfriend, but I hope you don’t think his money has anything to do with it.

How many years is this anniversary? If it’s only 1 or 2 I wouldn’t worry he probably isn’t expecting a watch or anything major.

If you have almost no cash, why not cook him a romantic meal or get him 2 tickets for a concert you will both enjoy together?

Question by Nerdfighter28

I was came across this and I found it pretty interesting, hope you guys do, too :)

May this be a reminder to myself and others inshallah

——————————————————————————-

Ibnul-Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

And mankind, with regard to their performance of prayer are in five levels:

The First: The level of the one who is negligent and wrongs his soul: He is the one who falls short in performing wudhoo (ablution) properly, performing the prayer upon its time and within its specified limits, and in fulfilling its essential pillars.

The Second: The one who guards his prayers upon their proper times and within their specified limits, fulfils their essential pillars and performs his wudhoo with care. However, his striving (in achieving the above) is wasted due whisperings in his prayer so he is taken away by thoughts and ideas.

The Third: The one who guards his prayers within the specified limits, fulfils their essential pillars and strives with himself to repel the whisperings, thoughts and ideas. He is busy struggling against his enemy (Shaytaanor Satan) so that he does not steal from the prayer. On account of this he is engaged in (both) prayer and jihaad.

The Fourth: The one who stands for the prayer, completes and perfects its due rights, its essential pillars, performs it within its specified limits and his heart becomes engrossed in safeguarding its rights and specified limits, so that nothing is wasted from it. His whole concern is directed towards its establishment, its completion and its perfection, as it should be. His heart is immersed in the prayer and in enslavement to his Lord the Exalted.

The Fifth: The one who stands for the prayer like the one mentioned above. However, on top of this, he has taken and placed his heart in front of his Lord Azzawajall, looking towards Him with his heart with anticipation, (his heart) filled with His love and His might, as if he sees and witnesses Allaah. The whisperings, thoughts and ideas have vanished and the coverings which are between him and his Lord are raised. What is between this person and others with respect to the prayer, is superior and greater than what is between the heavens and the earth. This person is busy with his Lord Azzawajall, delighted with Him.

The First type will be punished, the second type will be held to account, the third will have his sins and shortcomings expiated, the fourth will be rewarded and the fifth will be close to his Lord, because he will receive the portion of the one who makes his prayer the delight and pleasure of his eye. Whoever makes his prayer, the delight and pleasure of his eye, will have the nearness to his Lord Azzawajall made the delight and pleasure of his eye in the hereafter. He will also be made a pleasure to the eye in this world since whoever makes Allaah the pleasure of his eye in this world, every other eye will become delighted and pleased with him.

(Source: Al-Waabil us-Sayyib)

Now think about this, what level do you think you are in?
Are you sure?
Could be better, right?
This is kinda scary.

——————————————————————————-

Imagine going shopping and buying the most expensive Versace suit (for brothers) or the most expensive Louis Vuitton purse (for sisters). Then imagine not ever taking it out in public and showing it off. Rather, no one knowing that you owned that Louis Vuitton purse, Versace suit, Rolex watch, or Mercedes-Benz car.

Such was the case of one of the pious predecessors of this Ummah. He bought amongst the most expensive clothes and these clothes were amongst the most beautiful and precious in his time, yet he never wore them in public. You may ask, “what did he do with them then?” Rather, this man wore these beautiful clothes when he stood in front of His Lord to pray in the night prayer when no one would see him except for His Lord, for indeed Allah (SWT) tells us in the Quran, “O Children of Adam! wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer” (Translation of the Meaning of the Holy Quran, 7:31).

Indeed, we should beautify ourselves when we stand in front of our Lord. Now ask yourself, “what did I look like when I prayed fajr this morning?” And compare that attire with what you looked like when you last went to a dinner party you were invited to.
